Australia is drying out thanks to our emissions

There are 153 comments on the New Scientist story from Jul 13, 2014, titled Australia is drying out thanks to our emissions. In it, New Scientist reports that:

Australia is drying out, and it's largely our fault. The south-west of the country can expect to see average annual rainfall drop by 40 per cent compared with the mid-20th century, and a new model suggests that the main cause is human greenhouse gas emissions.

My emissions are always quite wet, so don't be blaming me for environmental degradation.

This article is so bogus. The article starts out by predicting and then blaming and then the next paragraph says that no one can really predict how much rain or where. Freaking stupid stuff

Must be your source, huh?
P.S. A misuse of information that could unnecessarily muddy discussion is harmful. What Heartland did with some information from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration can charitably be called distortion.
Hey spaceballs, you still haven't explained why there has been NO global warming for the last 17 years, while CO2 levels have "supposedly" been rising to "unprecedented" levels LOL.
Please let us all know the answer to this, enquiring minds want to know!!!!

Well, there's no change in the global warmng trend.. WARMING!

http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs_v3/F...

Each of the last three decades has been successively warmer at the Earth's surface than any preceding decade since 1850.[6][wikipedia]

The more fossil fuel usage, the more global warming.

“Within a few years, CO2 levels will remain above 400 ppm for the entire year, and in less than a decade, the average level will be close to 405 ppm,” said Michael Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University.“Even 405 ppm could potentially commit us to a ‘dangerous’ 2°C (3.5°F) warming of the globe.”

Then come extinctions, towards an 80%.

Then a lot later comes an ice age. Nothing else to forecast at this time beyond man-made global warming and its consequences.

1850 to about 1880 - the end of the "little ice age", and it's been warming since...

"The more fossil fuel usage, the more global warming."
Really? No, not really.

The most recent IPCC report states the warming between 2002 and2012, ten years (that's one of those ever warming decades), has been +0.05 C, or -0.05 to +0.15 (about one degree every 200 years) much slower than they report for previous decades.

CO2 continued to increase throughout the period yet global warming slowed to a statistical standstill.

The models that predict catastrophe predicted that warming would continue with increasing CO2 but it did not. The models are wrong.

Settled science? Only for the clergy in the Church of AGW.

For those who claim we must slow or stop growth and reduce our standard of living now and in the future or destroy humanity (or some such) are making a claim which requires THEM to prove they are right, prove any warming is AGW and that the results will be catastrophic and that reductions in CO2 output will be cheaper than adaptation. Why would that not be the case?

All I know is if the planet is warming it stands to reason that colder places will be warmer and more hospitable to vegetive species that are naturally adapted to that climate.

Too easy, isn't it. He makes some cogent points that merit sober discussion.

But what do you do? You sidestep them completely and go all ad hominem.

Then you add a "LOL" at the end of your attack to disguise your malice.

You cannot even be honest about that. Are all your fraternity as evasive as you?

At least he's not REPEATING someone else's lies like yourself, and when are you going to tell us why there has been absolutely NO global warmng for 17 years? You can try and word it however you like but the the facts are "No warming for 17 years" Get over it!!!!!
