"The last big leap in public concern about climate change came in the wake of the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina in the United States. While no one could show a causal link, the extreme weather and the terror it unleashed was enough to put global warming on the world's agenda."

Causal links cannot be made to any single WEATHER event. Only the probability of weather events is changed by AGW (i.e climate change). Weather is dependent on PROXIMATE causes, not changes in the climate. Weather events are dependent on warm moist air masses for example (i.e. weather), not the probability of those conditions (i.e. climate)
