Faux Pause: climate contrarians lose favorite talking point [Greg Laden's Blog]
In an ongoing effort to discredit mainstream climate science, climate contrarians have incorrectly asserted that there is a "pause" in the rate of global warming.

From the article:
"Our current system for measuring temperatures has a relatively large area around the poles that is not well covered. This new research uses advanced techniques to fill in the gaps in our measurements. When these holes are filled, what looked like a slight stagnation in the rate at which temperatures were increasing rose to agree with model projections"
Yes, after the scientists went back and lowered the arctic temperatures of the baseline, they found warming. Imagine that.

Ah......... toxic topix AGW deniers welcomed the new techniques that discovered the lowest Antarctic temperatures ever recorded, lower than at the Vostok station, but on incredibly isolated high Antarctic ridges. toxic topix AGW deniers crowed (wrongly) that it was a new era of low Earth temperatures, instead of the truth, which was new technology able to measure such isolated, wild, high & cold places.
But now, the new technology looks to be able to thoroughly seek accurate & long-term temperatures in those wild regions........ & suddenly toxic topix AGW deniers see the error of their crowing. Yeah, toxic topix AGW deniers never see the ramifications of new technology, till they see their crowing turning to denier death cries.
Squawk on, "fun farts".

Do you have any idea of what you are talking about?
" new technology looks to be able to thoroughly seek accurate & long-term temperatures in those wild regions"
New technology can go back in time and record temperatures? This would be interesting, did they create a time machine?
In the meantime, yes, the arctic temperatures were changed for the baseline period to record lower temperatures than previously recorded. The result was they produced a larger anomaly to the base line.
You see if they just gave us the actual temperatures we could see how much they have changed. And we wouldn't be so concerned. But by showing just an anomaly, they can create warming that would not be evident with a temperature chart.

Met Office claims Earth will warm by more than 3C this century, then gets excited about finding .04 in 12 years. LOL
Between 1998 and 2010, temperatures rose by 0.11C, 0.04C more than previously estimated.
Even Met Office knows its meaningless, an act of desperation.
The main conclusions of the new temperature series remains the same – that overall warming since 1850 has been around 0.75C and the 10 warmest years on record all occurred in the last 14 years.

And yes, I get the fact this is yet another new study.

This is what you get from Cowtan
If the Met Office sea surface temperature corrections are applied to the NASA data, the resulting 16 year trend (i.e. 1997-2012) is 0.103°C/decade. Using the Met Office data and a similar reconstruction method we obtain a similar trend of 0.108°C/decade. Our best reconstruction including the satellite data shows a trend of 0.119°C/decade.
