handy timing.

Alao note that the Chixculub impact would have relaxed the crust over the still active Deccan basalt plateau which was active both before and after the K/T boundary extinction with flows about a millennium apart or so separated by a red soil horizon with occasional fossils.

The Deccan would have erupted after a rebound/long duration, mercalli X event (r/lx) in this case at the Tethys marginal arc.

The Chixculub impact would have produced an initial seismic shock large enough to break every megathrust on Earth @ the time. The result would have been a crustal relaxation that would have resulted in a flow coinciding with the precipitation of the fallout & the time of darkness stage that would have starved out the Dinos which were part of the plant based ecosystem.

The result is that there should be one flow in the Deccan traps that has a large Ir anomaly as a result of incorporation of the fallout dust into liquid lava in open channel flows and also the over vent lava pond which would have been the size of a large lake.

That one should constrain the extinction date to within a millennium or so, as the flow immediately beneath it should have a few dino remains in it and the flows above would not have anything dino like at all.
