Dexter Johnson faces possible execution

Jun 28, 2007 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: KHOU-TV Houston

“He killed my sister. Why would he do such a thing? You know? Take the car. Take their money”

The statement from the jury foreman said it all. "We the jury find the defendant Dexter Darnell Johnson guilty of capital murder as charged in the indictment," he read in a Harris County courtroom Wednesday ... via KHOU-TV Houston

This is a very sad case. Death is wrong no matter who committs it. The justice system is messed up. Everyone who committs a crime deserves punishment for it, but the death penality is a cycle of killing. The criminal kills, then the system kills them. What kind of sense does this make? Is this how GOD wants this to be handled? What do you think God wants the punishment to be. The last time I checked I don't think God was working in the justice system, I think he is in heaven. This is about the worst crime I have ever read about. I cried so hard when I read this. May God bless you all. I cried for the victim's families. But I also cried for the family of the accussed too. This is not good for nobody to go through. When someone in your family dies, no matter how they die, it is a very bad experience. I know I've been there. For the person that committed the crime, can I watch that person die? No I can't. It wouldn't bring me justice and it wouldn't heal my pain. And it surely wouldn't bring back my family member. To ALL of you, may God have mercy on you soul.

I close my eye's and I feel the warmth and the deep satisfaction that this piece of human garbage with be executed and removed from this world can't you? It feels so good. It's a shame that they only get a needle in the arm, let them suffer as much as he made them suffer! Start a slow skin peeling session and prolong it then finaly smash his head in with a cylinder block! Ohhh what a rush, please make it cheaper and faster so we can get more and more of this garbage off of our streets. Pass a law letting the father of the victim to spend 3 hours alone and undisturbed with the killer and have complete amnisty from what he does.

How can anyone feel any remorse for this waste of skin.It doesn't matter what his age is. The answer is he new right from wrong and he obviously made the wrong choice. So LET him pay his dues to society. Which in your beautiful state of Texas still recognizes the death penalty. Wish some people in Government had some ball and would introduce it again in Canada. Kudos's Texas. Let him SWING

I know the first inclination is "eye for eye" and say "looky here its in the Bible" and to which I would say it's also written "He who is without sin, cast the first stone." There is a better plan for society that we refuse to try, and that's loving your neighbor as yourself. We as a society refuse to care about anyone but ourself, so when desperation and perversion kicks in, we act all shocked and appalled, then arrogantly pass judgement on our enemy. This hasn't, and won't fix anything, ever. We need to rethink our traditions and admit it's not working. Those who justify capital punishment with the "eye for eye" verse need to really read the verses about love and forgiveness. But alas, this society is probably beyond self help and we will have to wait until He returns.

Dexter Johnson, may you rot in hell as soon as the lethal injection takes your life. Your tears upon hearing your death sentence were pathetic, just like your life and miserable existence. One less piece of garbage in this world. Guess you should have thought about this moment when you were taking 2 innocent lives. No, you probably didn't think that far ahead. Good riddance. You make all of us sick. Enjoy your time on DEATH ROW.

I'm all for rehabilitating drug addicts and kids that were raised by the system and all that, but to do what this man has done deserves no second chances. And as a matter of logistics, any taxpayer money spent feeding and housing this animal should go towards someone with a much better chance of turning things around. Unfortunately, that money will likely be ill-spent no matter where it goes.

the upside here LB is simple. You won't have to watch him die.
Others will see him die and feel that his death was humane and peaceful unlike the torture and mayhem he caused toward another.
You may call is broken but here we call it justice. Many would like to see different styles of death sentences carried out for certain crimes and criminals like this one.
No one here is "playing God" they are just going to fulfill the duties set out before them. Unfortunately for the victims family this sentence will not be carried out soon enough. For the murderers family, it is also a very sad time and I feel for them. My feelings only run so deep though, and in this case the death sentence isn't harsh enough.
I don't know you and I don't see how you have all of this pain that won't be healed unless you are somehow directly or indirectly involved.
This is Texas justice at work... Is it perfect? NO. But, we will watch it work and we will watch this murderer go to hell where he belongs.

Ladybird, you are so right on. Remember that only certain ears and certain eyes can see the wisdom in your words. To carry the sentiments that some of these others carry is so sad, and reflects the heart they carry inside. I prefer to think as you do; that God will ultimately have the final say-so. I wil not condemn anyone, instead choosing compassion and mercy. For I know that I myself deserve very little.
God bless. you.

Hey Ladybird, Hey Paul,

You have every right to voice your opinion but don't try and hide behind the Bible or self ritious indignation. The Bible is one of the bloodiest books in the world and everyone in His name, or God's name, or whomever's name has destroyed complete societies. Why don't we just admit that we are no better than animals and rid this piece of crap from the face of the planet without invoking the name of the lord.

Animals don't strap batteries to people nuts when they torture them, Animals don't screw their brother out of his land, Animals don't walk around with their pants down to their ASS with their boxers hanging out like they are begging for anal sex.

The human race is a piece of $hit and should have never been and just like the dinosaurs you will be recycled with the best of them.

The death penaly is NOT a cycle of killing. Once the murderer is executed, that cycle ends.

Did you rape and murder several people? Stop comparing apples to oranges. Different crimes result in different punishments. I am not a perfect person, but I have never hurt anybody and would never even imagine of raping and murdering innocent people.

I think ladybird should take this poor lost soul into her home and raise him right. I'm sure he has so much to offer her and her family. In fact, if you feel sorry for these monsters should go find a violent gang member and take one of those creatures into your home to live with your family. Perhaps you will be able to show them the way. Perhaps they will rape, torture and murder your family. If you really believe what you preach, then go do it. As for me, I am very willing to cast stones, grenades and bullets at those monsters in order to protect the innocent. You who hide behind the bible obviously do not care about innocent people being slaughtered. Did you cry when you read about Hitler's demise?

Jojo, you're a genius! you got it right perfectly. Let these morons invite the scorpions of society into their own homes and clasp them tightly to their breasts. See how they like having their loved ones raped and murdered. These people always want mercy, but they have no mercy on the innocent. The guilty should always pay 'on earth' for their actions. God's mercy is reserved for eternity.

I think he got what he deserved. As his defense team pointed out "He was in the wrong place at the wrong time" If he didn't do it he's just as guilty as person who pulled the trigger. He was there and he left numerous people out to die. I agree with everyones post except ladybird. I dont believe the death penalty is a cycle of killing. It just rids our society of pieces of shit and it gives not only society but the victims family and friends the satisfaction of knowing that the world is 1 monster less.
Did this guy ever apologize for leaving the victims to die?(if he's so innocent?)
When the verdict was read that reality finally set in and kicked his ass.
He got what he deserved.
Mr_Positive was right on track! As many zany laws we have there should be something about letting victims families have 5 minutes of one on one time with their loved ones killers.

I truley apologize for even writing what I wrote. I didn't know I'd get sent to HELL for it. I was only stating my opinion. I have lost some one very close to me to a violent act. I know how these people feel. But there is a higher power than ours. God will have the last say. I don't agree with rapist, nor killers. I believe they diserve punishment. You people act like I want him to walk free. I never said that. But I don't agree with capital punishment. That is my right as an american. And as far as rape goes, I was raised in a family of all men. I knew what rape and molestation felt like when I was an 8 year old child. So I have no sympthy for that. I know I wasn't killed but my innocence was taken away from me against my will. And I'm NOT saying that compares to what these poor vistims got. I was only responding to the rape part. Dexter is wrong for what he did. But my opinion wont change about capital punishment. That's why we have the democratic and republican party. That's america. Whatever he gets he gets. But I still feel the same way. Just because I DON'T have it in MY heart to kill doesn't mean that I should be punished for it. If that's how I feel then that's how I feel. These comments shouldn't be to verably attack people for how they feel. I have a right to my opinion just like you do. And nothing that I have read in this passag will change my mind nor make me feel any different. Im not going to say to u what u have said to me, I'm better than that. I was only voicing my opinion and it wont change. The streets are full of stupid criminals they can't kill them all. Killing one is not going to change the world. There are still going to be bad people. God help us. It's the world we live in. But I said it once and I will say it again. I don't agree with killing. It's wrong. And I will not be writing anything else because I can see I'm not as FREE as I thought I was.
