The only way to stop crime in this neighborhood is to put professional police with the knowledge of law enforcement in thier heads not stupidity like they have now. The police in the 34th precinct are a bunch of 16 year olds not professional adults.

It's not an easy battle to fight - it certainly doesn't help to have our police force feel unappriacited by the same people they serve and by the political machine. Why bother going above and beyong the call of duty when if you do go beyond the call of duty the least you can expect is get in trouble for doing so. The neighborhood needs more narcotic operations, then again, who cares, it's Washington Heights and the landlords are getting their rents paid, so who cares, the property value is and eventually will go back up higher and higher and slowly but surely, the same thing that has/is happening in Harlem will occur in the Heights. Then again, the machine is underestimating the Dominican People as tthey are a resilient bunch and are here to stay.
Just keep the violence down to teh bare minimum - this is really waht people care about.

As a resident here in Washington Heights (I'm not Dominican by the way)- why on earth would I want to appreciate the stupid 34th precinct police who act like bullies in high school and not like professional law enforcement officers like they are supposed to? all the police in the 34th precinct care about is gossip. They don't care if you need help, they don't care if you are having problems, and they don't care about solving your case. I had a problem a few years ago and I thank the police in the 34th precinct - my case is much worse now. The heat to my case has quadrupled. A murder will occur any day even if the idiot who I had a problem with says a hello to me- and you know what? the 34th precinct police will not even find the killer.

My girlfriend and I came in for a hit and run for her car. We walked into the precint a bunch of cops where just standing around talking laid back not one said how can I help you. After a couple of minutes went by the guy at the desk finally spoke. My girlfriend told him here car was hit while it was parked and someone was kind enough to write down the license plate of the car that hit her car. The cop looked at us like we were a couple of idiots got up turned around handed us a form and said fill it out and mail it to Albany and then resumed talking with the 7 officers that were lounging around. This precint is a joke what's funny is that my girlfriends brother is a cop but we didn't want any special treatment. These cops look like thugs dirty and couldn't be bothered. Nypd you need to look in the mirror and fix yourselves.
