This is an outrage ! No one should take a life. They should throw him under the jail and toss the key in Fort Loudon Lake.

I worked with gary in high school and had a friend who dated him in high school as well. i cannot believe that this happened and he took a life. As katie said before, i cannot wrap my brain around it. He should be locked up for life, but my prayers go to his family and the family of kenneth hurst.

Taxpayers money should be used to keep people like that in jail for the rest of his life. Let the mans family and/or friends take care of him.

most of you all never knew gary and im pretty sure that most of you probably take drugs yourself. and for those who didn't leave names or made up fake ones you all are the cowards. and for anyone who knows an addict can say it makes you a totally different person. before the drugs gary was the most kind hearted person and the best brother. and for those who knew gary and is sticking up for him thank you

Gary grew up down the street from me, I can honostly say I feel for his parents and sister. That's all.(On his side) his younger brother Chris Collins will be with him soon enough, if he isn't already. Both of them had extensive backgrounds with trouble, police, fighting,STEALI NG anything they could, and just beein bad kids. I can honostly say, I do not think that their parents could have done a better job. Those two never went "un-punished" but on the other hand it never seemed to phase them. I knew them both well. Got high (marijuana, NOT intravaniously shooting synthetic heroin) with them a few times but everytime I was around them the cops seemed to get involved or someone was getting robbed or whatever. Not trying to sound like a crude, there were a few ok times I'm sure.. None I personally can recall never the less.
These were the kind of brother that preyed and hunted younger smaller kids to mess with, scare, and pick on. I'm down talking about them both because in the long run that's probably all these LOSERS wanted, Kayla, I'm sorry I know he was your brother but he is a fucking prick. He should spend every last day of his living life behind bars, with no freedoms.. He and your family will still have more than the victims family. VISITATION- I truly believe the city of maryville, the States of America for that matter would be better off without them. Don't forget Gary killed this man for his pills and his T.V.- which he pawned for more pill money- took a mans life for a temorary high. I believe he WILL kill again if he is ever paroled. He does what he wants, when he wants, where he wants, his way. Ask people who truly knew him and they will say the same.(Unless it his little sister of course)--Kayla GROW UP, if someone killed your grandfather for his pills how would you feel then?? And then took his pills and his TV after they killed him and hid his body under his own porch. Stop focusing on Gary and try to save Chris, if its even possible at this point. If it isn't possible try to save Gabrial-- the youngest brother-. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims family, I hope you are waiting for Gary as soon as he walks out of those prison doors when he is 52 years old, and shoot him between his eyes, in front of his family.

How are we cowards? We have seen what your family is capable of, not just Gary, Chris too. I'm not a coward, I just don't want your trashy brothers to be strung out one night and come and try to rob me--bad idea, I have a concealed weapons permit for a reason- also Gary grew up down the street from me, I can honostly say I feel for his parents and sister.
