C'mon people! Please stop tolerating this kind of scum in our community! If we allow this to continue, we're all screwed!

If you see gangbangers in your neighborhood, start calling the cops on them for every little infraction. Start making their lives so uncomfortable that they choose to move out, instead of all of your decent neighbors!

Oh please... the only way the police come is if someone has already been shot. If you call the station and say it looks like gangbangers are in your neighborhood they won't come. And when something serious is going on it takes forever for them to show up and when they do it is over.

Instead of critizing the Police and their response time to your call. Contact your local police agency and find out if there is a Neighborhood watch program in your area and have a meeting. Discuss your concerns with the law enforcement officer who will be attending this meeting and get some straight answers from him/her. If there is not such a program in your neighborhood step up to the plate and become the Block Captain. Know your neighbors, know your officers that work in your city. The police are there for you and take great pride in what they do.You can be their eyes and ears. This is Community Policing at its best. Best of luck.

When you call them say you are afraid.

Call and call and call until you get what you want.

instead of sentencing to jail time. Why not send them to Iraq or afghanistan and fight for our country. I don't know how they can claim a neighborhood when they don't pay for a mortgage, property taxes or at least rent in their neighborhood.

Sqeaky wheel get the oil. Call until they get sick of you. If the response times remain slow start making a stink with the city manager and the city council. Trust me, things will change.

On the flip side, in order to know how the police department works take a ride along and a tour of the dispatch center. Response times don't happen the instant you pick up the phone. It usually takes a couple minutes before the car even gets the call unless it's a 9-1-1 felony in progress.

I agree with you is a good idea to do this ,But the problem is that when ever someone calls 911 your address is also there ,so when the cops get to the scene the first thing they do is show up the the address from where the call is made ,that gets you and your family into problems thats why many people just ignore what they see .

If al you righteous people are done running your mouths about the things you know little or nothing about then you can shut up and get educated. That shooting was not at active hard core thugs it was at a latino man who not only works and is raising his family, his wife also works and so does the friends they had over. The problem is... the gangs in the surrounding areas get buzzed get ballsy and instead of the POLICE doing their job and watching for incoming outsiders and crap they wait for it to happen within the city and then go after the people at the house not the perpertrator(misspelled but!!) but the victim. As of recent years the outside gang comes into the neighborhood and cannot find any real gang members so they hollar out their gang name blast on a man bringing in grroceries and flee. Then LM Sherriffs come around trying to make the neighborhood members snitch on eachother. That is the way it has happened in the last few years. Gee if that isn't working perhaps they should go to the other gang members ding the shooting and handle they business. But of course the excuses can add up that is not our area no one can identify blah blah bull crap. They have raided several homes in La Mirada for minor crap and tried to offer each person freedom for their cooperation and if not max time. Well we have a lot of people doing max time for they don't know what when who or why it isn't their issue at all but of course the tax payers are led to believe that they are on top of the situation. Don't comment on what i am saying for any one putting their 2 cents usually have no facts to back it up. Oh before yo have a retort like they were gang members, you need to realize some people grow up, they have a past related to the city but they are no longer active and have hung up their holsters and such and began a solid law abiding lifestyle. You can be retired but still live and have love and respect for what you were and what will be. All you people glad about a shooting and say get them all call the cops haven't a clue or you burried your head in the dirt and chose to be ignorant.

If that be the case then well youj know the old saying, you won't beat em and you dam sure can't join em so give up and move on

This is some of the most twisted tripe that I have read in quite some time. Everyone, read this quote very carefully. I realize that the poster's ramblings are extremely difficult to follow, but it is noteworthy none the less. You will notice that there is no hint of personal responsibility. Rather, it is a winding narrative of how the police are at fault. The poster seems to think that all of La Mirada's ills are somehow to be traced back to the police. For instance, the statement is made that the police are supposed to be on the look out for people who do not belong in La Mirada. Someone will have to clue me in as to how they are supposed to do THAT? And of course, if the police somehow were able to pull off such a feat, this same poster would, no doubt, start screaming "profiling" at the top of their lungs!
Then, towards the end of the statement, there is a reference made to ... oh heck, here is the quote "they are no longer active and have hung up their holsters .. You can be retired but still .. have love and respect for what you were". Now, this implies that the person in question has former gang affiliations and has perpetrated malfeasance in the past. Okay, fair enough. I wish that all former criminals would become truly reformed and productive members of society. However, read the part that states "You can be retired but still live and have love and respect for what you were". Oh really??!!!??? Someone who is truly reformed leaves that past behind and refutes it as reckless, destructive and irresponsible. If we hang on to a past life of crime, remembering such with "love and respect", then a true reformation has NOT taken place.
It is not the fault of the police when one's personal choices come back to bite them. Quit blaming the police department. They are not the ones making our communities unsafe ...

Wow! I'm glad you put all this in perspective. At first I thought it was some innocent people getting shot at. But now I know that it was a bunch of veteranos causing "minor crap" in the neighborhood.

As for me, I say get as much "minor crap" on all the gangbangers in La Mirada that you can! Let LASD to go after these losers for every little thing. Pick 'em up for drinking in public. Cite 'em for parking their cars on the lawn or blocking sidewalks and driveways, I don't care. Do you smell the mota burning? Call the cops! Make their lives hell until they move out. Let them stay in Carmelas or wherever they're welcomed. But get these sacks of shets out of my neighborhood. I will not sit and wait for my kid to get shot by an errant bullet.

Unfortunately, anybody who cares and with the means tends to move out of this area. I did. However, I recognize that this does not solve the problem. The gangbangers in our area are multiplying like cockroaches. Before they take over our neighborhoods, we need to start bringing the Raid to them!
