I feel badly for the family too, BUT the Parents MUST BE CHARGED for Gross Negligence here.
This should not be dismissed as an accident & HIGHLY AVOIDABLE. These folks run a day care?
Chilling & tragic.

twinmom just like to take any occasion that makes it even slightly possible to use the word "liberal" in what she thinks of as being derogatory. Even though she obviously doesn't know what the word "liberal" means since by her comments she is apparently in favor of liberal gun laws.

I should resist from throwing the empty barbs. Its like hiding the ice cream from the toddlers for not other reason than to annoy them. Immature on my part I suppose.

I have your conversation right here:

So exactly where was this sparked conversation anyway? The news department at NBC? I would have thought those high school kids would have been more concerned with what frat parties to go to this weekend.
Meanwhile, there can't be a real discussion prompted by this incident until more details are revealed, like whether the shooter had access to an unsecured weapon, or whether the weapon was secured and he bypassed said security, or something else.

Do you even know what "socialism" is? Its got exactly squat to do with guns. And its got exactly squat to do with anything in Charlottesville.

I'm also guessing by that link that its supposed to say "see! its obvious that we all need guns for self-protection!"

Well, I actually don't really give a hoot one way or another about the gun debate. I grew up with guns. I'm not afraid of them or whatever else. But all I see in that story as a headline is something like "Moronic Conservative Tax-Revolts Show to be Moronic"

Nice deflect attempt, but futile! The name I've chosen to use here has nothing to do with the facts, to wit:

There's not enough information presented to state whether stricter gun laws would have prevented this particular loss of life.

There's no information on how the shooter obtained the weapon used.

There's not enough information presented to know if any of the existing laws regarding gun ownership were broken.

First, of all, if that's true then you wouldn't have posted that link.

Second of all, I've seen that screen name attached to posts here before (assuming its you tho' they're easily hijacked), and always just wanted to say "do you even know what socialism is? B/c its got squat to do with anything in Cville." So I finally said it.

I think you probably mean welfare state capitialism rather than socialism, but you know, just asking.

Go read some Rappoport. I have. What services will C'ville cut the corners off of next when core functions like infrastructure are already suffering as largesse for voters is increased?
Meanwhile, o mighty critic, the facts I've previously stated stand, you keep trying to change the subject, there's been a very unfortunate fatality here, and elsewhere someone was unable to get law enforcement to arrive in time when the rapist drew nigh.

I don't "keep trying to change the subject" - I did change the subject when I asked about the screen name.

And on that count, when you say: "What services will C'ville cut the corners off of next when core functions like infrastructure are already suffering as largesse for voters is increased?"

I can't tell exactly what you are saying. But if you're saying you think the City should be doing better with infrastructure then you're criticizing it for NOT taking on MORE economic functions. So that makes your screen name ... well, weird ... and backwards. Its also the case that if the city was spending and doing a lot for infrastructure, that would be "largesse for voters." You just appear to be really confused, so I thought you might cleat it up.

So asking someone about whether or not they know what their screen name actually means does not make one a "mighty critic." It makes one curious....although also poised to be arrogant and condescending.

So what is the real discussion that you're trying to address here? That police don't have a duty to protect the public? That funding is so short there aren’t enough resources to fund a police force adequate enough to protect the public? That people shouldn't count on the police to protect the public? That everyone should be responsible for their own safety and we should do away with the police? We should increase taxes to fund a more adequate police force? Or that since you left C-Ville socialism, you should be on another board complaining about where you went?
