U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert doesn't know his Texas History. Many Texas towns in the 1800s prohibited packing firearms when things got dangerous. Sterotypes are not facts, and are a mark of a bigot.
ps: many schools do not have armed guards ...

I am for gun rights but disagree here.
A gun for self defense only works if you know how to use it and more important are willing to use it.
Giving a gun to a Principal who is not willing to point it at the bad guy, well you then just gave the bad guy a free gun.
But, but, in this case the bad guy already had an AR-15.

Using a gun is so easy, kids have been able to kill adults with their guns, and in this case a twenty year old with little or no training in offensive conduct was able to murder 27 people in minutes.

Yeah, she had guns to protect herself and someone without guns killed her with her own guns. Then went on to kill little children. Isn't it ironic or should I say cliche? It happens very often these days.
OMG, omg, I'm surrounded by my guns at home. OMG !!! What should I do ??

Should I ask an antigun communist for advice ?? Will they know when my guns will attack and murder me ?? Someone help me.

These liars will go public and say our guns (not police guns) are killing our kids (guns will kill the fewest number of kids).

The little Sandy Hook school in Who-ville prohibited guns all the time, and then things got dangerous (and deadly).

Psychopath, young, school, AR-15, multiple shots in each tiny little kid.

This shooter was bred by police to create the greatest public response to the existence of AR-15's.

The deliberate banning of weapons at school was designed so that maniacs could go to school and shoot as many victims as they could before the police arrived.

Is your arguement that the absence of armed teacher(s) or guard(s) acutally caused the incident? If so state your evidence.

Given the frequency of gun violence in schools some form of armed guard, while not a 'solution' might lessen the carnage and maybe even have some deterent value. It would be a 'meaningful' action.

I can't believe it, Louie Gohmert is once again proving what a loon he is. He is talking about arming a woman who probably never had fired a BB gun, much less a high-powered weapon {rifle}. And Connecticut has a very strict weapon law on the books. Of couese, it doesn't surprise me that he is shooting his mouth off {pun seriously intended} again. This is the same guy who claimed that half of the senate was made up of terrorists. I seriously hope Texas has the smarts to remove this kook from office.

Texas has a number of politicians, with a uncivil war mentality, that need to be sent home. Keep in mind that not all Texans have scrampled minds, like those who seem breathe deep the air around oil refineries.

I do think that the school principals, the folks working at the font desk, etc. should be armed with pepper spray. Not the tiny bottles that fit on a key chain, but the large cannisters with a 30 foot range that campers use to defend themselves against bear attacks.

What makes mass murders so dangerous is that they plan their attacks beforehand and carry it out methodically. However, once they've been blasted in the face with grisly bear strength pepper spray, they are incompacitated or at least blinded. They could still fire their gun randomly and perhaps hit a couple of people standing nearby, but they can't go room to room hunting people down if they are blind.

Adam Lanza asked his mother for advise. See what that got her. Be careful asking yours.

Yeah Justin, that will stop someone standing 35 feet away with a gun.

And then the attack "Gun Free Zones". OR do you think that is a coincidence.

Okay. So you'll wait for the shooter to work his way through the classrooms shooting non-stop but boy will he get his when he reaches that front office, won't he???
So how many dead kids was your idea worth?

Really? You're making a lot of assumptions there. You actually think that at the sound of gunfire, the principle or someone with pepper spray is actually going to run in the direction of the gunfire????
If you're going to come up with a scenario, you'd better have all of the possibilities covered. Clearly you didn't.

If it were up to me, the principal and other school staff would have the option of carrying a handgun. Here in Georgia it would have popular support. I'm just presenting the pepper spray as a "better than nothing" option that would perhaps be acceptable to the North-Eastern gun control crowd.

In this type of crime, many of the victims are backed into a corner and shot at point blank range. There were probably several people who could have put a cannister of pepper spray to good use that day. The stuff is designed to fend off angry bears. It's better than curling up in a fetal position beneath a table and hoping for the best.

Don't give in to them Justin. They're not willing to budge.

If they weren't already shot. But again, none of them are going to race toward gunfire with that canister.

True, but a canister in the hand of a dead person is useless.

It would do something, especially if you used the fine powder ones like they use for crowd control. If you were to crack the classroom door and fog it off in the hall way nobody would likely come down that particular hall, would be better than nothing.

Most of these people commenting about Texas have probably never been there and forget that Texans are more likely to be self reliant and it is different if you have a 5 minute police response and one that is 30-40 minutes. Less you forget everything is bigger in Texas and the rural areas can get pretty spread out.
