i'm sorry. i believe if you take a life you should not be able to live a life outside. i don't know any of these people involved but i do know if someone took the life of one of my loved ones i would be at EVERY parole hearing to make sure that person is not on the outside EVER again! big deal, he has been a good inmate etc! that man is dead and gone forever! someone lost a son, possible brother, uncle, i could go on and on. the murder cases are the hearings that should be on prop 9 and only these types.

YOUR AN IDIOT!!! OR HIS FAMILY... leave him in prison...throw away the key....Mark has a wonderful family that has GROWN tremendously since Billy got screwed up on drugs & alcohol & BROKE INTO Marks home, SHOOTING AND KILLING HIM. The in-laws, neices and nephews, not the mention the fact that he was never given the chance for a family of his own. How Billy gets any chance of parole is beyond me..There is no place in this town for him....

Mark Snyder was a very kind gentle person from chilhood into adulthood. He was far from being a slumbag.

yes, what ever happened to an eye for an eye. it sounds to me like this billy guy was jealous because his wife did not want to be with him anymore so he made sure this new guy definitely would not have her. that is sick and twisted to take a life for any reason unless your protecting yourself or family. not because you simply can't handle moving on with your life.

Keep him in prison! It does not matter that he is a model inmate. He took a life. He should have walked away and divorced his wife. He deserves to stay in for the rest of his life...

Figures. They were big no on b supporters. All the dopers buy there tires there. The thing with the shooter, and why he should stay locked up, is because he has never taken responsibility for the crime or shown remorse. He is still trying to blame the other guy when it was he who broke into the house in the middle of the night.

I totally agree with you. An eye for an eye!!! People need to remember what the victims family goes through for the rest of their lives. Why should this man get out of prison to resume his life. The victim doesn't get a second chance at life. The victims family never gets to have a life with him either.

I grew up with Billy...he was a nice, gentle kid, and a real scholar in school. I would say that meth and alcohol changed the course of his life forever. That said, he's served his time without incident, and needs to be released. Eye for an eye? Maybe you need to move to the Middle East!

Remember Gary Bruchler, who killed kis son in cold blood with an ax handle? He had friends in the right places, and only did 2 years on manslaughter charges. Justice is not equal up here in Mendocino County.

I know some of the Mayfield family and know they are very nice people. I worked for John for many years and Bill was a very good friend of my dad's. However if you take a life the way Billy did, in cold blood, I don't believe you should have a second chance at your life. In the case of Gary Bruchler it was put to the jury as a father and family living in fear of his son for many years. The DA did nothing to disprove this. Jurors can only decide a case on the evidence given to them.

I repeat: Justice is not equal here in Mendocino County. Bruchler is a cold-blooded killer. Did he ever think of a restraining order? He's like Jack Nicholson in " The Shining".

Let me see if I got this right: "Mayfield has been a model prisoner." "Snyder was a scumbag." Here's how I see it: So, Mayfield has been a model citizen IN PRISON. He certainly proved otherwise prior to going to prison. The man shot and killed Mark Snyder. You make it sound like this cold-blooded murder was justified because it happened as a result of an affair. My God, get real! If every man in this world committed murder over adultry we'd not only have to build more cemetaries, but we'd have to build more prisons. Lots of them. Mark Snyder's murder is absolutely NOT justified. Furthermore, don't try using the "model citizen" excuse for this killer. Had Mark Snyder been given the chance (to live that is) perhaps he'd have become a model citizen himself like his father and the rest of his family. This man was a good man. He may have had issues at the time. Mayfield obviously has issues then too. But this is not a contest about who was the better man. This is about whether or not this killer deserves to be released from prison and to live a life of freedom when Mark Snyder was never given the chance!!!!!

My heart goes out to Fred and Joanne Snyder and family. It is so sad these wonderful people should have to go through this again, and again, and again. But I commend them for their strength in seeking and fighting for justice.

Restraining orders don't do much good most of the time.
I have friends who have known Billy and love him, and I have friends who have known and loved Mark. I know Mark from school. A great guy. I know his parents and sisters and brothers. Billy made a choice, he was angered, out of controll. He chose to get the gun, get into his truck, drive to Marks', break in through a window. The message, don't do the crime if you don't WANT (CHOOSE) to pay the time.
Billy had time to regroup. His choice was made.
Life isn't equal across the board. Jeffery Domer was probably a nice guy to the people he liked(in relationship, not for dinner)Had he not died in jail, would he deserve parole one day if he had been a ideal inmate? NO. Were the people Domer murdered somehow more dead then Mark? Are you 29? That's how long Mark lived. Billy can live his life being a model prisoner. He can be saved, forgiven by grace through faith, and help others...in jail.
