A facebook poster was commenting on San Jose having 33 murders, what a joke. San Jose has a population of 1 million. That is one murder for every 30,300 residents. Vallejo has 14 murders, and i'm not counting the four justified homicides like the TH does to boost their ratings. That is 1 murder for every 8,357 residents! Vallejo is a sh it hole, 3rd highest crime rate in California per capita!! Bottom line, VALLEJO SUX..City of Doom!!

Maybe things will change if people can unite in goodness and help one another.

Aren't there seven Officer involved homicides? And are you counting unicorporated areas?

Maybe y'all could discuss the actual article in question? LOL.

I heard he was a 'Nam vet. I've known a couple myself, both still troubled and dysfunctional in some ways, both still haunted by the war. I wonder if this describes Hohenegger as well. I feel sorry for his victims and for him. What a f'in nightmare all around.

Anyone who judges Vallejo for crimes of passion and/or crimes committed by mentally disturbed individuals is a blockhead. Full stop.

I knew the two men that were murdered and Martin. Martin was off but I never thought he was that far into the deep end. The two men that were murdered were close to my family and I. Hearing new of what happened around the corner from my mom's house disgusts me. The two men will be missed. Great guys RIP

my family is friends with Martin. Martin grew up with us. Apparently he had been going to the VA hospital for depression. I was informed he was taking medication for his depressing and had been drinking. I am not sure if that had something to do with this nightmare situation or not. I also feel terrible for the victims and Martin. My heart goes out to the victims families and Martin's family. Such a shame.

You are right about what Martin did. Knowing someone for 35 years it is so hard to understand what could have happened. If a person goes off the deep end, it could be a serious health issue that causes it. I don't know and I feel horrible about what Martin did. I am sad knowing that this happened and that Martin will pay for this the rest of his life. I am not saying he doesn't deserve it because he did this horrible thing. It is just a shame it happened to all concerned.

You are a perfect example of how ignorance and lack of an education beyond the sixth grade is harming our society. Please don't have children. Please.

You didn't ask this of me, but I think compassion for a mentally ill person is a sign of decency. Of course I am sorry for the men he killed and for all who loved them too. I cannot speak for others but my heart is big enough to feel sorrow for anyone who is suffering. This is all just a sad and terrible story. I've known a couple of disturbed, depressed, alcoholic Vietnam veterans and let me tell you that war (f)ucked with people's sanity like you would not believe. There is a larger political context here I guess because our government--no matter which party is in charge--continues to send our young men (and women too now) into these nightmarish situations. And back then, there was zero support for them when they came home. Unlike WWII where they had a hero's welcome, Vietnam soldiers were treated like crap.(Hmm by a lot of the same kind of people who feverishly hate cops nowadays.) Martin's wounds were clearly still festering all those years later. I just wish this tragedy could have been averted.
