The cost to continue the litagation was estimated to be more than the settlements. In order to make this nightmare go away, the defendants ok'd the proposed settlements. No matter where the evidence points, the plaintiffs have no fear of ever being re-prosecuted. For this to happen one would have to have a prosecutor. That leaves Edgar Co and Lisa Madigan out. There are only two other options, the Illinois Appelate Prosecutor and the Federal system. The Appelate Prosecutors were threatened with suit and curled up in a ball and hid when the suits started. The Feds....BTW, the Feds did work on this tragedy. They were investigating it when Callahan was first assigned and they further assisted later on in interiews. The reports are all in the case file which is largely available through the freedom of information act, at least the first 3500 pages. At first it appeared that Darrel and Darrel were merely thrown in to take the fall. After several years of re-investigation,it is obvious that both played important parts... I extend my condolence to the surviving victims...the families and friends of Dyke and Karen. Serves Them Right,u r 1 phuckedup moron.

Per Paris Beacon article last week, Edgar County through their insurance company, settled with Herb Whitlock for $3 million. Did any money come from county funds or was it all insurance money? Wonder what the county's new insurance rate will be?
County law enforcement officials have always felt that Steidl and whitlock DID commit the murders. Wonder why they settled if this was the case?
The figure reported in the Beacon was, 3000,000. To a half way intelligent person, you could reason they meant 300,000. One to many zero's, it's called a typo. But where did you go to school and learn 3000,000 was 3,000,000,000? That's the numerical order for three million if you can't figure it out.

Where did U go to school?

A halfway intelligent person would think they forgot the comms after the 3 which would have indicated three million.

6 zeros make it millions.

What you typed with 9 zeros is 3 trillion.

What a moron.

If OJ was assessed 33 mill concerning the deaths of the two he killed, then the ones taking part in the Rhoads killings should also lose the blood money they recieved. Problem would be finding a lawyer with bigboy pants. I would say there exists well over the 51% needed to win.
