If you knew Maurice he was the cat who would give you the shirt off his back. I served with him in the Navy and besides a practical joke he was harmless. My prayers go out to his family. All us Stennis boys will be missing you "HAWK"!

You people have got to find something better to do, you know for a fact you wouldn't say that to the face of someone who knew him. This country is full of a bunch of cowards......especially the the ones who killed him. Yall get at me those who know me (via myspace "Mr. & Mrs. Dewberry") Shalom

Rest in peace Hawk! Everybody talking shit should be ashamed of themselves! This man has passed away. Before, you start speaking on his character, realize that you didn't know him. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He served with the USS John C Stennis. He was deployed in 2004 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was a funny, kind, and considerate man. He leaves behind a wife and kids. This man was not one of "the crackheads" you speak of. Those who knew him from the USS John C Stennis, know that he was a good man. He will be missed. This is an example of a good person in the wrong place at the wrong time. RIP Hawkins

First of all,I'd like to express my deepest sympathy to Maurice's immediate family. We all grew up 2gether on the same block which is why I can say that I totally agree with the individual whom described Maurice as being the type of person whom would give the shirt off his back. These things are not said out of pity;it's all true.I put my mind at rest when I realize the fact that he's in a much better place now.GOD needs him more.We love & miss u Maurice.Who wouldn't miss a guy whom always has this huge smile on his face each time you see him?Later.

As 4 the individual whom referred 2 Maurice or anyone else as a loser crack head, put your pipe down and say it 2 my face. You've got 2 be one of the most ignorant jack___on this planet; Not 2 mention your crack head buddies that are sitting next to you coaching you on the correct spelling of the ragedy comment you made. This is not the time 4 b.s.there's far too much going on in the world so if you can't say anything positive, log off and take your silly--- to bed.Night,Night Idiot!

Tony Skate you will be missed. I will never forget our long nights in the launch valves; you were always getting me in hot water with Apen. You are honored by those who knew and loved you. Thank you for your service to the JCS and the Navy. Thanks for always keeping me on my toes and always knowing how to make me laugh! My prayers are with your family. I look forward to seeing you on the other side. ABE's have wings for a reason.

You both are wrong! We need to look at what is really going on. I am from East St. Louis by way of Chicago, born and raised! Lived in the ABLA housing projects on the westside of Chicago, Lived on Winstanley Ave. in E.St.L! Conditions play a role, evironment, home life, education, etc..
Media is 85% lies. We dont know what happened only those who witnessed the tragic event but as it stands, two black men are dead! We need to come up with a working plan to help situations like this before it starts!

You say, "Sometimes things escalade", you need to check yourself and see if you are up on YOUR education Brotha!

We as black folk, some of us need to stop looking for a damn handout and start pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps. There are too many programs out there for us to take advantage of. We do not have to be a product of our environment. We are still stuck in mental slavery, some of us. Fast money and no education often leads to a long sentence or an early grave. The government uses a black mans DNA to determine how many beds to allow for the incarceration of black men. The system is set up for us to fail, but this country was built on our backs and we should be damned to see this country continue to stand on our backs and send our men to prison or to the grave.

Both of you need to check yo' self!

You just contradicted urself black dancer saying that there are too many programs out there for black people and then saying black people are set up too fail. Which one is it? I do sympathize with the poverty situation of many blacks that was a result of mistreatment from whites, however, murder is murder. Too many black people kill each other. Why is there such a lack of a conscience among blacks? A conscience is what separates an animal from a human being.
