My name is Libby. I've been friends with Chris Whisman for over 20 years. I think that the other side of this story should be explored. It is a terrible tragedy what happened to Rodney Gray. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Chris is not a killer, he would have never intentionally taken anyones life. After speaking to his other friends I can say he would never have hurt any of us. He was just trying to help out a friend. And the fact that he had a knife does not mean he had it intending to cause harm. Chris always had a knife. He lived literally in the woods, he was always cutting vines and trees with it, trying to improve his home. I think it is unfair to portray him like he is some kind of vicious, cold-hearted person when he is not. Friends of his are afraid to say they know him for fear of being hurt. If these friends and family of Rodney were such peace makers, they would not be threating Chris's family and friends.

Just a few questions for you Libby.

Didn't chris have a record previous to this. Didn't he just get out of jail a few months ago? What was he in for? And dosen't he also have a juvinelle record.

Chris is my friend too. And I agree 100% with Libby. Chris would never intentionally take someone's life. He certainly would not hurt anyone without a reason to do so. He was protecting him self using what he had. If there had been a can of mase on him, he would have used that. But, yes Chris did always have a knife on him, and not because he likes to threaten people with it, but because he actually had use for it! Yeah, what happened sucks, but we need to look at all sides of the situation, not just one!

i agree with what both Anna and Libby. i have known chris for some time now and can say he was not a violent person. all i keep hearing and reading about this situation does not sound like chris. Im sure we can all agree that this was wrong and ashame, but before every body goes and starts saying how bad of a person Chris is. we need to know everything that happend and not just what the authorities and newspaper editors want us to hear. i also find it wrong to bring up if any possible juvinelle record chris may have seeing how that it confidential and had nothing to do with this case. - just a thought-

There are lot's of people with records who haven't killed, and lots without records who just never got caught.

There's a lot of missing information, like how many (10 or more) people were OUTSIDE of the vehicle, how they beat the vehicle, smashed the windows, etc. We may never know exactly what happened, but there's always at least three sides to every story...

I agree with Libby.
I've known Chris for for years (and a few people that have known him better than I do).
I know he's had (or made himself have) a rough life and has chosen so many paths he shouldn't have, but (to the general public) imagine if it was your son? Your boyfriend. Your best friend. Your brother. Your cousin.
Is he still a murderer now?
Is he still evil, demented, insane, heartless, uncaring?

What do you think is going thru his mind right now as he sits and wastes his life away on a 3 second bad decision that took a mans life?

Put yourself in his shoes.
Put yourself in his friends and families shoes.
Imagine that, it hurts the rest of us when we see someone saying "Chris is a murderer, Chris is a crazy individual." Implying that he was meant to be on this path just because of his last few years of decisions.

No, I'm not in denial, nor do I agree with what he did, nor am I naive to what he's done or his past. I just know how it makes me feel to see people act like he's imhumane now due to his actions..act like he's not worth anything, doesn't deserve to live..act like he's nothing more than a labeled killer.

He has a heart. He needs love - not hate.

Hey I'm Chris's little sister Aleah.
What my brother did was definatly not model citizen I know. what he did was wrong. I've known him all his life [duh] and hes a good kid at heart. He made a panic move..but don't we all make bad moves in life? I call them mistakes. We all make them. He just made a big mistake.
Regaurdless to what hes done I still love him.

And charles..[chucky] go blow yourself..what my brother did that night had nothing to do with what happened now. Yeah Libby was staying at a party with my brother and I. But maybe if Jay hadn't provoked him and stabbed at the window with a knife my brother wouldn't have punched it out.
Lets give the people the full story shall we?

i was friends with chris and rudy. i grew up with both of them and i can say that chris has always had problems. i know first hand because i have had physical altercations with chris. everyone of you is so quick to stand up for him but number one you dont know the whole story.. rudy was standing up for the girl that chris had thrown a bottle at and for being a good guy like he is he lost his life. rudy had no intention of killing chris he had punched him and where that leaves chris the right to pull out a knife and take his life is beyond me. Chris has admitted that he took the knife there he knew he was going to kill someone and that is what he told his friends before he left to go to chads house. so for your "he had the knife becasue he lived in the woods" well.. we all livein the woods were from calvert county but how many of us 1. carry a knife around and 2. kill people. he has no remorse for what he did and if someone took the life of your bestfriend, brother, cousin, son then you might make some threats too. i guess making threats is alot better than taking someones life right?

screw chris hes a little ...keri is right he brought the knife there knowing he was going 2 kill some1 and its so sad it had to b rudy. Chris didnt have anything to do with the altercation and for him to go there and kill some1 else that didnt have anything 2 do with it is an action of a man that is crazy and deserves the sentence which wont happen. For his attorney too say chris felt his life was in danger is bs none of them boys carried weapons on them and the only reason anthony started breakin the trucks windows with the bat is bc rudy was stabbed...so F chris and the rest of them s RIP SWEETS I MISS YOU HOMIE

Hey Libbygirl,
This is the kind of crime that happens in the P.G. County area and the ms-13 has trashed the Langley Park apartments by committing crimes there.

You may wonder if some ms-13 hood has come to your home to rob and kill your spouse. If you are smart, you would install security or move to the mountains.

It's impossible that Chris was "defending" himself. He went to the house. If he was the bigger man in the situation, he would have stayed away. He went there to fight. He went there to kill.

My cousin Rudy, RIP. Chris is a punk. What ever happenend to fighting and then going home. Rudy had no knife/gun. Chris ment to kill my cousin and he should rot in jail for the rest of his life. May he then fell sorry when hes 65 alone with no children, no life, no family or friends. Sorry Azz. B.S.! Chris always hunting and cutting down bushes! LOL. Chris has caused alot of us pain, Rudy was young not a saint but not a killer or known trouble maker. He didn't deserve to die and his parents shouldn't have cried Sept 25, 2007 over the death of there eldest son. The trial starts on monday, Losing a son to jail, is nothing like losing a son to death.

MISSIN RUDY…I agree with you 100% Just have some patience.---Justice will prevail----
To all the NON Chris supporters: KEEP up the good work! Keep Rudy in your HEARTS and remember that violence is NOT the answer! Cole wrote that it was wrong for me to bring up Chris’s juvenile record. WHY? What he has done as a juvenile has carried right into his adult life and should come to light to show that he is a habitual offender. He has led a life of violence AND yes it has everything to do with this case.
To all you Chris supporters:…….Get a life…….. Everyone that has known Chris for the last 8 to 10 years knows he’s been in and out of trouble. Everyone knew that eventually Chris would do something bad. I think what dumbfounds all of you is that YOU knew he was definitely capable of murder but to actually commit the crime.

Thanks for the encouraging kind words. Violence is not the answer, I am not a advocate of violence, I am angry, hurt, and sad that my cousin will never have children or celebrate his 21st May 7, 2008. I'll say it again losing a family member to jail is nothing like death. They get 3 meals a day, a bed, visitors, and if hes lucky he'll get a sweet ole' boyfriend. Not so bad, more than what homeless people get. Did I mention I hear they have cable, what a punishment for taking someones life.
