my entire family was friends with red head and i was really close to davie and i know that he is innocent. he didnt know anything that the others had planned. he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. ive always kinda felt stuck in the middle being friends with both sides however the truth is the truth and somethings although hard to do, just need to be let go

Woohoo!!! The way WVVA was acting one would had thought a hero was coming home from Iraq not a convicted murderer...SHame Shame WVVA!!! Guess the only ones that know if Hurt is guilty is the ones that were there and GOD. So I look at it this way God will take care of this whole situation If not on this Earth then in the after life. Everyone lets please keep the Lester family in our prayers. I am sure it is very hard watching someone that may or may not had been involved in Freddies murder paraded around like a hometown hero. I agree WVVA should be ashamed!!

People need to get their story straight before they saying anything! Yes his sentence was set aside because of not having a good attorney but that doesn't mean he is innocent. It justs means that his attorney's didn't do a good job. He is out on bond. Think about it...if he was truely free and all of this was over, then why does he have a bond? The Lester family is appealing the case to WV Supreme Court so it is far from over. As far as "davies innocent", comment, why are you just now saying something about it. Why didn't you say something when it happend and kept him froming going to jail in the fist place? Michael Hopkins changed his statement so much because he was threatened by David and others. At least Michael apologized to the family and took responsiablity for what he did! It doesn't matter if David knew what was going on or not, he was there and he is just as guilty as Michael.
Explain to me how it is fair that he can go be with his family and the Lester family can't be with Freddie. The justice system suxs!! He was found guilty once and he will be found guilty again! Trust in God and know that he will take care of everything! Praying for the Lester family!

Like you said, even if he served time for being "wrongly convicted" of murder, it wasn't wasted time. He definitely deserved to be in prison for all the other stuff he did and will start doing again. He's a gutless thug, always has been, always will be.

Michael Hopkins is a piece of Sh!t who ruined a lot of peoples lives he pulled the trigger he knows who was with him and it wasnt davie it was his best friend who is dead now...Im so sick of people acting like mikey was so innocent that he was young and was pressured to do what he did thats bullsh!t he was already a menace. Do u know how many times that fool has admitted that davie wasnt with him its on court record. I feel for the lester family freddy didnt deserve that mikey should go back to prison for the rest of his life. Im sure the streets will get him though.
David Hurt should be right behind him! Whether he knew what was going on or not his is just as guilty! David was already a meance also and should have chosen his friends more wisely!

So if you were with someone at Wal-Mart and they robbed it but you thought they were just going inside to cash a check would that make you guilt? No! None of you know what went down unless you were there so cut all the gossip and shit talking because yes even though both families have been through a lot but its not our place to judge anyone.

She was on WVVA and said no one told her family about the hearing or the fact that Davie Hurt got out of prison. That's just wrong. Shouldn't the prosecutor keep the victim's family informed?

all i have to say is that people need to learn tha facts and stop judging this man because of his color. only the ones that were there that day knows what really happened so if you wasn't present then how can you say he did it. god knows tha truth and im not saying he's guilty or inocent, but if he did it then eventually judgement day will come and if he didnt then he deserves to be free and never should have been arrested and lost half of his life 4 nothing. and if he was present at the scene doesnt mean his intentions were to go there for that he coulda been at tha wrong place at tha wromg time. REGARDLESS OF THE SITUTAION IF YOU WASNT THERE OR IF YOU WEREN'T THE ONE WHO PULLED THE TRIGGER THEN SHUT THA FUCK UP AND LET GOD BE THE JUDGE!!! INNOCNET UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!!!!!!!!!!

To "Furious". It's not about David Hurts color. It's about his character. People know what type of person he was and probably still is. He was proven guilty. He only got out on bond because some bleeding heart Judge decided he did not have "effective counsel" (on our dime) during his trial. If it comes down to a retrial he'll be found guilty and sent back to prison. You can't change the facts that were presented that convicted him.

I don't know all the circumstances from so many years ago, but, I do know that the person that pulled the trigger was convicted of a lesser crime than the Hurt boy! something is wrong with this picture....the one who actually KILLED another human being, got 13 years, and the one who may or may not have known what was going to happen, got LIFE in prison with mercy....i'm sorry, but, the shooter should not have gotten a lesser sentence than Hurt! HE SHOT A MAN AND KILLED HIM....yes, i agree the supposed lookout should have been convicted and spent many many years in prison, but 17 or not, the shooter was old enough to know that DEAD is DEAD, he certainly knew the consequences of it even at such a young age..if he was pressured, he should have turned tail and RAN for his own life...not pull a trigger and kill a man...both deserved long prison terms, but, 13 years for committing a cold blooded murder is just not enough punishment....and that is what is wrong with society today...

1. David Hurt was not let out on bond. His conviction was overturned due to inadequate representation. It had nothing to do with him being guilty or not guilty. FYI, there is no such thing as "innocent" in a court of law. People do not plead innocent. They plead and are found guilty or not guilty.

2. David Hurt is not a convicted murderer. The conviction was thrown out. It doesn't exist.

3. When the prosecutor appeals the Friday decision to the state Supreme Court, perhaps Hurt will again be a convicted killer. For now, he is not. It's just how the system works.

4. No way Davie Hurt should ever have had his re-trial in Pocahontas County. A black man on trial in Pocahontas County? That is not a jury of his peers.

5. The justice system has nothing to do with justice. It's not even a legal system. It's a court system.

ok let's see who judged davie by the color of his skin? IT WAS A BLACK PERSON THAT ACCUSED HIM! NOT A WHITE PERSON!Color has nothing to do with this! A man was murdered by these worthless thugs! So they need to be locked up! But no worries he will mess up again!

wow wow wow world it's me. I hear that a lot of people have a lot to say nowadays. Anyhow, regardless of what anybody may think or believe, at the end of the day, the truth is the truth and the truth is what set me free. A lot of people don't know me, but yet they judge me just because of what they heard but don't know for sure, and usually I don't feed into negative energy and I'm not absolutely sure that I am at this point. However, I do wanna say this - if you're innocent of something and you know that, and you know that you fought for 13 years to prove it, then you don't worry about what others may think or feel. Reason being that to get out of prison is not simple. You can't just write and say judge I want out. The truth is in my situation that we all just witnessed justice that worked just as justice should. No matter what happens in life, we all have to go through some sort of struggle and some struggles are bigger than most. Mine was huge, but I'm blessed. So if you still feel like you want to ignore how negative energy grows until it consumes you then it's your fault. It will. What we just witnessed was God's hand at work, and for years, I waited to see that hand move. So believe what you want to believe and feel free to express your opinion. You have that right. We all have an opinion. But as long as we respect one another and don't allow our emotions and negativity to override our intelligence to where we become disrespectful and inconsiderate of one another, I think we will function together as a community which has seen struggle in many forms for years. This was my life, and for me to get on here and to feed into how people can say this or say that would just be beneath me and a waste of my time. I've wasted enough time. But just know that I came on here and spoke to you all like a man exposing my real name should speak volumes. Real people do real things, and if I'm real enough to do that and subject myself to being belittled by you all, that must make me real. And if I'm real, then what would that make you???
