Laugh all you want, but this has nothing to do with gun regulation. No child should have a bb gun, or any gun, or any weapon of any kind on a school bus. That is an existing school rule and ought to be enforced.
so true. i wonder how this was concealed at school and on the bus. and did the parents know this child took it to school. also, what action will be taken with the student. i believe it is at least a mandatory suspension.

Ahh, the good old days.... when beating children with wooden boards and leather belts was appropriate corporal punishment. Except it isn't appropriate behavio-its assault. Idiots who think "its just a bb gun" are not understanding that some kid took a gun-whatever kind it was doesn't matter- to school. Why? And why should any parent ever think that is okay? No child should be fearful to go to school.
again i agree with you. its not about not allowing kids to play, but its about playing by the rules. rules are put in place for a reason its called saftey. and kids should not fear going to school especially in this area. if kids want to shoot each other at home, let them. my kid has bb guns and air soft guns, he has also shot real guns at the rang and does paintball. its about following rules and saftey for all involved.

To those of you talking about how normal it is to be shot by a bb gun and how you used to do it all the time...did you ever do it on a school bus?!?! Please stop being ignorant! These children were not playing in the yard at home. They were riding a school bus. Big difference. There is a time and place for everything. A school bus is not the place for bb gun fun!

My 8 year old grandson was threatened on the bus by an older child who told him he would "kill him" with a bb gun. We told the school - and they did nothing to the child - only verbal - and told my grandson "you can't be killed with a bb gun"..........
basically making an 8 year old feel like he was stupid for being worried about it.
It was not taken seriously, yet my grandson dwelled on the threat for days before actually telling us what was wrong - why he was so apprehensive to get on the bus. Even asked me a few days before the truth came out - "what is a bb gun?".
I finally said after a day or two, "why are you so upset about riding the bus" - he finally told me - so of course i told his mom and she called the school - the way it was dealt with was a verbal scolding and put my grandson on the front of the bus. this happened just in the last month. the boy also told my grandson "i know where you live at" - this impressed upon my grandson so much, that he would go around closing the curtains in the house - before the truth came out - and we called the school.

If by "namby pamby" you mean someone who thinks children should be able to ride a school bus without being shot by a bb gun, then I am guilty! With fine, upstanding citizens such as yourself out there thinking it's ok to take a bb gun onto a bus and shoot another child, it's no wonder we are so plagued with ignorance and violence.

Ok, as a kid we grew up in the country, if you touched your Dad's gun, you were getting a spanking...if I remember correctly this right was taken away from parents...then you told the schools they could not correct a child but so much...so here we are with a bunch of kids that have no "GOD" in their life, parents who cannot spank them and a GOVERNMENT that believes it knows best...

All I am saying is that morals is something that is important and what I see today is morals are loosing ground and children no longer are scared to do something because the consequences are not there.

Guns are not the issue, people are, and when we gain morals back and put GOD back in our routine our children will know what is right and what is wrong!

My son and his friends play with air soft guns. They play a version of paintball. BUT NOT at school. They shoot at each other while wearing safety glasses. They know they should not take any of it to school due to the rules-no toys, no guns (zero tolerance).
The kid should have told his parents much earlier if he thought he was hurt. Communication...

I didn't know either, so I looked it up. Below is what I found:

BB guns take 4.5mm metal ammo, while airsoft guns take 6mm plastic ammo.

Also BB guns can be much more powerful and are not intended to shoot people with. Some BB guns can be lethal if you hit somebody in the wrong place.
Airsoft guns, on the other hand, have been designed with shooting people in mind and are perfectly safe to shoot someone with, providing they're wearing proper eye protection.
