UPDATE:Shooting leaves one dead

Did Ryan have a loaded gun on him and was he shooting at officers, in order to of have been killed Carlsbad police officers?

Nice job officers of Carlsbad, we are truly blessed with professional and brave people protecting our city. This Baker kid was a piece of sh%t and was armed to the teeth, on dope and had a prior shootout with officers in Roswell and Artesia. Glad our officers came out fine!!!

This kid was bad news. I do, however, feel sorry for his grandparents. They are the ones that work tirelessely taking care of the great grandkids. They deserve to live the rest of their days in peace, not in the chaos this situation created.

yes, he had shot at the officers

Yes it is sad that most of their grandchildren turned to be bad seeds......hopefully they will heal quickly from this incident. Good luck to them

There are quite a few more drug dealers and gang members along 5th street. Could the cops please take out a few more?

didnt something like this happen aug 4 2009, on corner of church and 2nd st, also the occupant of the vehicle was 27 yrs old,also involved in hot pursuit,also ended up dead.im sure some of you out there remember that was 4 months 4 days ago.

also both incidents very close to each other,im not putting the blame on no one, just what a coincidence.

I went to school with Ryan from 1st grade up. He was always so nice and it makes me sad that this has happened. I wonder what lead him down this tragic path and I also wonder what could his life have been like if he choose different. I would like his family to know they are in my prayers. it is sad for Baker that he died in this manner but what is even more sad is that the officer that had to shoot and kill Baker now has to suffer for taking a life....very sad indeed

in 3 years and 4 days from today, it will be 12/12/12, we will see if there will be another murder from today, it is just a darn coincedence, get a life

I witnessed first hand the remarkable job our officers did. Thank you Carlsbad Police, S.W.A.T and everyone else that was out there. Also, to the family of the officers this has to be hard not knowing whats going on till after the fact!!

This world is FULL of crazy, But I'm so glad to officers or good people were shot or killed...Maybe its time to ask our self's who will miss you when you leave this earth...And why ? If there is nothing good there then maybe its a wake up call to change your life around before you go to prison or when you die, its to late at that point because the damage has been done !!!! So how many will cry for you ?

Good job officers for staying safe... Its the worthless lowlifes that put their burdened on good people...But stay strong !!! And know that many are THANKFUL for all that each of you do for all of us !!!!
