Husband, father, grand father, brother, uncle and a great character of a friend. This is what Hector Leija was, a great man who to the rest of the world that is looking in just another man. We loved his artful character and respect for his family without all the unfounded comments is surely not to much to ask from anyone that can read. God Bless the person who feels above the law "gods law" that is.

You forgot to mention that he was a drunk and abusive to his family! If you don't want negative comments, then don't post this BS!

These people claiming to care so much about this dangerous drunk didn't seem to care enough to get him help with his anger issues and alcoholism did they. Good riddence and one less drunk on the streets.

I'm sorry you're hurting, but what if he'd killed some innocent person in his drunken stupor? How would you feel about him then?
The police didn't go on a witch hunt that night. They did what they've been sworn to do. Serve and protect.

Facts? People know the facts in this case and they're venting their anger. An innocent person could have been killed if the man had a loaded gun! The police did what they had to do to protect the public and they should be recognized for their bravery! It takes guts to confront a drunk waving a gun!
And by the way, I'm not judging this man. I'm an older gay man and I myself have been judged most of my life! I'm just pointing out that people are angered over the fact that this man's issues with alcohol were allowed to get to this point.

i knew him personally, he had quit drinking like his friend huve rocha died of scerosis of the liver and hector also developed it, but after hanging around his other friend bear, he started again, another drunk, i saw him at the funeral home and his right ear was completely shot off, so they showed him in his casket the opposite way on his left, side, , he was a good person, but then again alcohol will make anyone change, from good to bad, god rest his soul,

only 5 cops unloading their weapons like at the firing range practice, but they only shot him 24 times and 12 misses, maybe they might need some more practice, anybody out there want to get drunk and come home and beat up un the ole lady, and then come out with a bb gun , and the cops think its a real one ????

This post reminded me of how many people in carlsbad have such sad and pathetic lives that that they have nothing better to do but talk down about someone who's gone now I mean isn't the fact that he's gone and not here anymore enough for all you hypocrites... Haha this is just like stuff people were saying about 4 years ago when I was a jr in High school

"Let he without sin , cast the first stone "

That pretty much says it all

Proves what a pathetic person you are with your free speech I'm pretty sure there are millions more topics that are more important to express your free speech about but I guess that's how I know what kind of life you live because the only free speech you like to express is when it's old news and about something no one evens gives two shits about especially when it's someone who has been deceased. Your only punishing yourself...

Wow!!! I never knew there were so many judgemental people still existing in this world. I have so much to say about all of this but since you people know so much about my father in law, I will make this short and sweet. If you can take the log out of your eyes long enough to read this. Its unfortunate that all of you have so much to say about someone you have never met...Police are human, they make mistakes. In this case they made alot of them. My father in law was shot 18 times!!(bet the paper didn't say that) These were the shots that hit the target. We won't mention the missed shots, which by the way could have hit the neighbor kids that were asleep or the young man that lives next door. Guess these people we pay to serve and protect didn't care to much about protecting them. There are so many details I won't disclose because frankly, its none of your business. The fact of the matter is you are entitled to your own opinions and just like assholes we all have one, but it doesn't mean you have to be one (an asshole that is). You don't know the details so post your opinions all you want but hopefully people who read them aren't as simple minded and easily pursuaded to think its so black and white. So again I won't bash you for stating your opinions. I just hope one day you aren't as harshly judged the same way you judge others.

He was probably black.
They always seem to catch bullets when acting a fool.
