Heath was my Brother, He did not even live at that residence at that time. He was in the process of moving his belongings. Its sad that he lived here for ten years and some of the locals are speaking without even knowing the facts. He was a kind, generous person and worked very hard and helped everyone that needed help. He was a successful real estate investor who had almost sold all his properties in order to move back to Virginia to join his families real estate business. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and his family is here mourning our loss. Please have a little respect.

I am sorry about your loss. I am also sorry to hear about the third death. I believe the killers where from Atlanta in which it was a drug deal that went bad.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your brother and Scott were -- from my experience and that of others -- great guys. I think you should know that while you can find comfort from comments on these forums, you may also be upset at speculation and revelations that are posted here. It's just the nature of these topic discussions. There are probably things that the locals know about your brother and his life that you didn't, and if you choose to read these forums you should be prepared for that. None of that diminishes the fact that Heath was a good person and did not deserve what happened to him. Hang in there. You have my sympathies and prayers.

Sweet sister, I've met you a few times, many years ago. Heath was one of the first dear friends I made upon moving to the mountains. We were raft guides together. I am so saddened by this horrible tragedy, and even more so by the dim witted comments I have read here. I agree, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It could have been me, or any number of others. I will always cherish the memories of him. He was an amazing force on this earth, the world has lost a light, and I am a better person for having known him. I'm so sorry he didn't get out of that town in time. My prayers are with you

To Keleigh, the Compton's, & Wiggins' families: Our sympathy and prayers are with you.
Does anyone know for sure if the third victim did die, and/or what his name is? This is all so sad!

This is truly a tragedy. I knew Scott almost all my life, and Heath for several years and they were both really nice guys. I lived in the house next to Scott's driveway up until last year. There really wasn't a lot of traffic. Especially at night. I don't know why anyone would say that.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families.

This is so refreshing to read these comments. It seems like finally people are talking about what wonderful people Heath and Scott were instead of speculating the worst. I am blessed to have known them both. Heath always had a way of making something feel "right!" I am so blessed to have known him...my life will not be the same without him, but at least I have wonderful memories. I have thought about his great laugh all day today...what a great one! That loud bellow that you just had to laugh with. LOL! Keleigh, you are such a great sister. I am proud of you for being so strong and standing up to this people who have no idea who and what they are talking about. My heart goes out to all of you...Love yall!

It was a sad day to get that dreaded phone call that someone you love and have been friends with was tragically shot and killed. Its another sad day when people run there mouth because of rumors that go on. Let someone, like SCOTT or HEATH do something good for someone and no one remembers, let them get killed, no matter for what, they were still MURDERED....and everyone wants to talk. They were both GOOD men, good hearts and handsome as they could be. Put yourself in there families place and ask your self if this was MY son, MY brother, would I want people to talk about WHY they were murdered, NO I would want people to remember them for the GOOD they done and they both were good men. SCOTT you will always be my handsome hero. Never said no to anything I would ask, always there for me and always a friend. You deserve to be remembered with the respect you gave to others. May God bless the Compton family and the Wiggins family and we should all pray that the wicked person who took them from us should be captured and punished.

I never knew Heath but I have known Scott for about 5 years. I have always heard great things about Heath and I am a close friend of the Wiggens family. I agree with "missing a friend." Why people always assume the worse or put their interest in the bad of all circumstances I will never know. Whats wrong with putting all that care and concern into the good and in the family?
Lets remember this is a homicide and no ones deserves to have their live taken by another. I wish the people who are here writing all the bad things were there to receive the initial call when the family was notified. Try being wearing the shoes of the ones who got the one phone call that everyone fears and try being the ones who had to support that person and the family. Wait until its your heart that gets ripped out of your chest and have that lump in your throat and stomach where you can eat, sleep, or think. I hope and pray the family finds the answers they seek and the means to heal.

This is all to unreal......I have lost my two uncles....Scott was my uncle by blood and Heath was my uncle too....ever since i can remember Heath has been apart of the family ....At this point it is just to hard for me to accept that they are gone forever even now just writing this blog is making me have to accept it and I just don't think I am ready to do that....I thought I could write this but I am going to have to do this another time. My deepest sympathies to the Compton family. I hope to get to know you all better and stay in contact with you all....

Keleigh, many many people love your brother Heath. I have known Heath since he was 19. Heath touched the Hearts of everyone he met and he will always be in our hearts forever. I am proud of Heath for his devotion to his family and friends. After I heard about this Trajedy I called Heaths cell phone and asked him to call me to tell me it wasnt true, shortly after that you called and confirmed his passing; Keleigh I heard Heaths voice in yours and your mothers voice, he lives in our hearts and he will be loved always and forever.
He wanted to go home to VA Beach for quite a while and had been working on getting his Real Estate holdings in order for him to leave Bryson City.
Keliegh, Its time to take Heath home back to VA Beach. With much love and admiration for Heath and the Compton Family, Kelton

just to clear it up, I was with Heath when he traided his jet boat for his cute houseboat, he has been living on it (for the most part) remodeling and fixing it up ever since he purchased it in the summer of 07. If anyone has the opportunity to purchase the houseboat from his family may you have many many fun times on Heaths houseboat.
