How can any of you be so presumptuous as to assume that you know exactly what "justice" is in any case? I'm so sick of all the ignorance I see all around me in this country... WE HAVE CREATED OUR OWN MONSTERS! Wake up, please... somebody.

I think the people who commite these hanouse crimes should have the same thing done to them that they do to the people they hurt! and it should be done by the families of the victims! i know that if i was the family of those people i would die of pain so GOD BLESS THEM ALL!

When people like this man are incarcerated, why are they treated better than those who live by life's rules? Remember, any sane individual would not do something so horrible. I'm sure he needs mental health treatment of some kind, however, I do believe in castration for those that commit sex crimes and this boy would be a very good candidate for it. Castration solves the sexual urges these men have and often times stops them from doing their crime again. When will the States start listening and do something to the sex offenders?

Our State will start listening when we stand up and take action. We need to stand together as a society and make certain these people get what they need. Hey people, it is our tax money... wake up and smell the coffee please!! Otherwise it could be your child or your grandchild when this man gets out in 10 years.

yeah, why waste our time and money; just get this joker off our planet. russia doesn't screw around with its criminals. guess we don't take helpful hints too well. also, doesn't it really piss you off when criminals cop the insanity plea?? what a cop out.

Someboby please explain to me, why these monsters deserve to live?...
Did you know this person prior to the horrific acts that were committed? Do you even realize how something so simple can just break in somebody's psyche and let unknown dysfunctons loose? Chris Nielsen was my good friend throughout high-school and beyond, and though I truly have grief over the devestation that Chris left behind, I cannot say that I have no grief for him. Up until this point, I would be on the side of "fry the bastard"... I can no longer say that in any case, for I now have first-hand experience of what it is like to actually have known and been close with somebody who committed such unbelievable acts of violence. This is not the man that I once knew... Thank God (or whomever/whatever, if anything) that Maine does not kill people who are just as much victims themselves as those whom they have preyed upon. My thoughts and heart are with Christian, his family, his friends, and his victims as well. It's not an easy thing to come to terms with in one's own mind...
justin, i don't care if you knew this very sick person before he committed these atrocities. guess you didn't REALLY know him. guess you didn't know that he had a screw loose somewhere and that it was just a matter of time. here's some food for thought, dear friend of chris, "would he have spared YOUR life if YOU had been there?" think about it. why would your life be any more important to him than the other three persons'? he was in a sick killing mood and whoever was in his way.......

Christian Nielsen, 31
the case may go to trial in october

but first theres the mental exam and theres a possibility of a brain tumor so a cat-scan has to be done...

he did confess but,he pleaded not guilty.

he's kept in solitary because he's already had to defend himself from one inmate.

my my how we protect prisoners from each other.

Someone noted earlier that the killer is going to live the good life...

Ain't it friggin true? Parts of Maine have homeless people having it 50x worse then criminals.. That really shows tax money going to waste.

Well, actually, thats not all true though..
Ever hear 'bout the stories of Bubba in the prison?
Maybe he won't live such a good life after all.

NEWRY, Maine (AP) A cook was charged Tuesday with shooting and dismembering the owner of a bed-and-breakfast and killing three other people in a grisly Labor Day weekend crime spree that shocked people across the Maine countryside.
State Police chief Col. Craig Poulin refused to discuss a motive for what he called the worst homicide case in Maine in 14 years.

Christian Nielsen, 31, told detectives that his four-day rampage began with an Arkansas man on Friday and continued two days later with the slaying of the owner of the Black Bear Bed & Breakfast where he was staying in Newry, according to state police. The daughter of the inn's owner was then killed along with a female friend when they arrived there unexpectedly Monday, authorities said.

The dismembered bodies of the three women were found Monday at the white 1830s farmhouse in Maine's ski country near the New Hampshire line, about 75 miles northwest of Portland. Nielsen then led detectives to the man's burned remains in the woods about 15 miles away.

"It's a crime of horrific proportions," Poulin said.

Nielsen was charged with four counts of murder and smiled as he left court after being ordered held without bail.

Poulin would not say how the victims had been dismembered.

The victims were identified as bed-and-breakfast owner Julie Bullard, 65, who lived at the inn; her daughter Selby, 30; Cindy Beatson, 43, both of Bethel; and James Whitehurst, 50, of Batesville, Ark.

Nielsen had recently been renting a room at the Black Bear while working at another bed-and-breakfast in nearby Bethel. Whitehurst, who was in the area on family business, also had been staying at the Black Bear.

State Police Sgt. Walter Grzyb said the two men did not know each other beyond the fact that they were both staying at the same inn.

"We're all just numb with shock," said Robin Zinchuk, executive director of the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce. The area is about 75 miles northwest of Portland.

Nancy White, co-owner of the Sudbury Inn, was stunned to learn that the cook she and her husband had hired this summer had been arrested on murder charges. She described him as a reliable employee and a good cook.

"The whole thing is surreal. It's a shock to this small community," she said.

Police assured residents they had nothing to fear. "We believe no one else was involved, and there are no additional victims," Poulin said.

Julie Bullard had decided in February to close the Black Bear, Zinchuk said, and there was a "For Sale" sign out front.

Maine has a low crime rate. Its last quadruple murder was in 1992, when Virgil Smith set fire to a Portland tenement, killing a woman, two men and a 10-month-old baby.

Nielsen had a history of driving offenses that included an arrest for drunken driving, but nothing more serious, police said.

And so we began with our first steps on the Trail. The way down seemed no less steep than the way we came, though it was definitely longer. Climbing down steep rocks is in some ways harder then climbing up, perhaps because of the element of uncertainty about the footing below.

I knew Shelby (one of the victims) when her husband died in a car accident. Our children played together. Now they have no mother or father due to these tragedies. The devastation to this family is beyond what written words can describe.

Karma is very real and I do believe that just when this piece of Amoeba feces feels comfortable in prison someone will walk up behind him and break off a shank in his back. Possibly, someone he considers a friend.

Nah. Karma is a joke. He'll live on state assistance (prison) until the end of this days.
