WOW...
This kid is dead. I don't care if even in your racial profiling bones you really hate black kids or not, a young man who is a father and a son is dead...

Wow, some inspiring things to say. If you don't have anything nice to say, then you shouldn't say anything at all...you don't know the whole story, how about if it was one of your friends, son, or father and someone said that about your people...not even being shot and killed, but overdosing even, you know how that happens.

this is sad that a 20 year old wont live to see his kid grow up.what is wrong in this country where kids seem to get in trouble at a scary pace.drugs guns ,low income.you would think he would have worked his butt off to live a better life seeing he lost 2 very close people in his life.i hope others will learn from this and make lifestyles.my sympathies to his family and friends.

I could not have said this better myself. If you choose to live by the sword, then you die by the sword. It's a simple fact of life and plays over time and again. The problem is that these "rappers", which is the politically correct reference, have absolutely zero respect for human life. They are the first to cry that they are being discriminated by, or should I say disrespected by other races. The truth is that they can't even respect their own people and pull the trigger on each other without the blink of an eye or thought of consequence. You can blame the state, blame the city, blame the mayor or blame whitey, but the fact of the matter is no one is more at fault for this situation more than their own parents! This is true for all races where youth become troubled, then dead.

He was a father at 18. What kind of life would that child have? Dexter should have thought about the child first instead of drugs and other troubles. Maybe he should have thought about his own future before becoming a father. I hope this short tragic life has some effect on the other young kids because it can and probably will happen to them. Dexter should have tried to make a better life for himself since he was a father. Drugs and guns will not get you out of the slums and into college.

Many of you making comments should really think before you speak. No matter what the situation was, another one of our youth has passed away far too soon. I would love to see "Mary" or "Cracker Jack" live one month in the ghettos or the slums. You have no idea how hard it is. Did you ever think that people don't have a choice and have to fight like hell to get out of this life style! We must do what we have to do to survive. Our youth should no be put down for the life that they live but be shown that there is more out there to life. My prayers go out to the family and friends.

The bottom line is this....a young man is dead and another family is left to mourn a senseless loss. Stop the childish name calling and finger pointing and make yourself useful by DOING something to help the community. Otherwise....SHUT YOUR MOUTHS!

You're wrong. Everyone has a choice to make their lives better. He could have tried to enter college on a football scholarship or joined the military and receive the very best tecnical training. The problem is with his parents, or parent not motivating him make his life better. Your comments are indicative of the "ghetto" mentality and lazy people like you are the root of society's issues. I was, by the way, born and raised in Bridgeport and it's still a great city. However, it is being driven deeper into the dark ages by people like you. Do what you have to do to survive - how about calling the authorities and turning in the drug dealers who hang around in the hood.......that would be a logical start towards a better life.

Dealing drugs for his son' diaper. Wow, what a man. I wonder if anyone else's son died from these drugs he sold. There is NO good in what he did. I feel sorry for his death, but don't make him out to be something he wasn't. As for you, were you a good friend or a good customer.

With a mentality and attitude like that, this is what causes so many of our young black men and some women their lives today! Selling drugs and gang banging is not the answer. There are jobs out there if we just apply ourselves. We are killing ourselves. The white man doesn't have to do that anymore. Blame your ignorance on yourselves. Selling drugs to get your baby some pampers and milk is bulls#!t. You get caught up with the fast money and get greedy and you can't stop until death knocks at your door. Young people do we realize the consequences we face if a drug deal went bad or we get involved in gangs? These 2 weapons do not discriminate! They'll either kill you, kill family members or someone close to you. Wake up. The fast money, nice clothes and fancy cars.... is it really worth your life or jail time? what kind of example could he have set for his son? This kid probably could have been drafted to the NFL one day if he had of used better judgement. Stop blaming the parents too. We can only raise them but for so long and then pray to God that what we have TAUGHT them they will continue to follow that path. In this day and time these kids think they are grown the minute they reach 13. Can you get a job then? Hell No! so use your damn common sense..Hello!!!!!!!!! go to school and get your education and be somebody for once. set a good example for the younger children to follow. And for the ones that are always saying that oh this person was a good kid or he never got into to trouble stop the bullshit. if he was so good then he wouldn't be where he is today. How will the mother of his child explain this situatiion to his son? No matter where you go in life today, you have to be a strong minded individual because the peer pressure and temptation is out there. Yes I grew up in Bpt and that will always be my stomping grounds. It is what it is and life is what you make of it. It's not the white man's or the cops fault people. My condolences go out to his family and close friends.
