This just isn't right. Wallin-Reed is getting the same sentence as an armed bank robber. So, when is the DA going to charge the punks in the car with criminal trespass, larceny, terrorism, and moving vehicle violations?
You're either incredibly ignorant or just delusional if you actually believe that! This guy claims to have been afraid for his life yet he chased them for 8 miles and gunned them down. Regardless if how you spin the story that's not standing your ground! He's a murderer and he got what he deserved.

Casing the property? Some of you are delusional. They saw a silly sign and decided to screw with the guy. It was very stupid, but they had no prior records to indicate they were involved in any criminal activity. The forensics team found no gunshot residue on the fingers of any of the kids. It's public record. Stop injecting your own politics into the situation.
The fact that Chad never went to police the day after he alleged they terrorized his family and left footprints says a lot. If he was in such imminent danger that he felt the need to use deadly force, why didn't he contact law enforcement the day after the first incident? His unwillingness to contact the police after the first incident is just as stupid as those kids going back to the property a second time.
The family was supposed to know they don't have criminal records how? There actions certainlt suggested they did. And gunpowder residue was one of their hands. It's a case of dueling experts.

And if Chad went to the police, they would have said what? "Call us if they come back." No help at all in this case. The police are not superheros and are not everywhere at all times.

No one said that. Don't pose straw men. Someone asked if why they would come back a second time. Likely be to engage in delinquent behavior, but they were hardly gangsters.

Forensic experts found no residue on anyone's hands. They only found residue inside the car.

"Forensic scientist Allison Murtha testified that tests of the Susanville menís hands showed they did not have gunshot residue on them."

They would have had to file a report, since a crime was committed (theft and vandalism). If you believe your family is in such danger that deadly force is necessary, why wouldn't you file a report a day later? The fact that he didn't file a report and then lied to police says enough.

Hey Helen, burn in hell, you maniacal monster. Your heinousness would bug me more if I didn't know for sure what a miserable life you must lead Noone will ever be able to love you nor will you be able to love anyone else. Your punishment will be having to live with your pathetic self.

Good. He got what he deserved. Obviously out for blood. Family's story completely rehearsed to defend him. Perfect example of what a meathead does when he tries to take the law into his own hands. Please don't let him out.

Completely agree! I don't think he's an evil person, but because of his paranoid crazy ideas and violence he robbed a mother the opportunity to ever see her son again, not to mention that poor young man who had his life ripped away. If he really was scared for his life, why the hell would he chase the car for 7+ miles?! Wouldn't any normal same person turn around?? It's a lose-lose situation for everyone but I think justice was served.

Helen, you're as delusional as Mr. Wallin-Reed and his wife. So glad this jury didn't fall for that stand your ground bs defense. He gunned down men because he's a paranoid, pissed off lunatic with a gun. Lying murderer. Loved the talking points the children were given in their tv interview. It went with the theme of daddy's story and what Mrs. Insane Too said...they were terrorized. They claimed to be afraid for their safety at their cabin. So why did they return year after year? Why didn't they build a fence on their property? So stupid young men made a stupid decision to steal a sign and solar lights. That's not a death sentence. Only in Mr. Insane and Mrs. Insane Too's eyes. Justice served for the true victims, especially Rory McGuire. Be rid of these nuts.

How utterly tragic That this man is in prison His family without him
All because 6 young men Decided to steal from him.
If only if only they had not gone to his house that night.
But worse they went the next night.
How sad how sad how sad.
Gregory Chad Wallin Reed Was at home minding his own business
With his family Doing absolutely nothing wrong.
Calling it a prank is wrong.
They were robbing him of his peace of mind his dignity And his right To life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Yes it is wrong that he shot and killed
someone in his anger and indignation Concerned for his life and his family.
But if they had not gone to his house this would not have happened.
May God's will be done with this entire situation As it stands now

It wasn't about the light being stolen, it was about the personal safety/ security being taken away. These kids came back repeatedly, and that is an act of vandalism. Chad didn't know what they were thinking about, if it was plain mischief...HOWEVER this mischief caused terror to the family, and he was protecting them, focusing only on one thing...his family's security.
I also think this case was judgmental as it brought into limelight Chad's lies about him being a Ranger. True he wasn't a ranger and he lied however that fact had nothing to do with this circumstance. That lie is what nailed him. Still not fair imo.

they start getting stalked not just one night but multiple nights.....
what would any ones reaction be ... yes chase them down get there license plate......
I'm pretty sure it was Chad that went to the top of a mountain to get service and cll 911 and met the police at a location to surrender himself......
What about his family his wife Kerri and there three children you feel sorry for those Susanville boys you think those three children dont still have nightmares and no father there to comfort them.. Im sorry i feel like there was huge injustice here and needs to be looked at again especially by Date Line

Does the United States stand our ground in the United States? No we go over and personally deliver the message of " you will not encroach upon our freedom to live without fear" by bombing the crap out of their country. You judgmental sheep are constantly turning your back on people who are exercising their right to exist here in our country. You forget that this is what makes this country so great.
It's all Chad's fault huh? He should've just stayed home and went to bed let these punks steal everything he worked hard for. Let them strip his family of their personal security. Oh he should've done this and he should've done that. Blah Blah Blah
Those young men chose to take the chance of facing the consequences that may or may not occur for trespassing, stealing and terrorizing a family. As far as I'm concerned the ones who survived are lucky.
If Chad was such a blood hungry murderer then why not kill all of them and leave no witnesses behind to testify against his self defense plea? Quit believing the media about everything people! That's why our country is falling apart. The media only shows what they want us to see and believe. WAKE UP!!
Yep you're 100% right, the United States doesn't stand their ground. Screw that. We go over there and bomb the crap out of their countries! Destroy those foreigner's homes, blow their babies and toddlers into little tiny pieces. Personally I love it when I see the photos of all the dead children and babies. And all those crying toddlers in hospitals with missing limbs. Makes me feel proud to be an American.

You know your government is good and true when it sends it's Army overseas to kill children by accident. They don't *intend* to kill children, but if they kill a few thousand whilst getting all those bad guys who cares? Not me. Children only matter if they live in our country. If they live overseas then screw em! Their fault for being born in the wrong country. God hates children who aren't American. I'm not sure why he bothered to make so many of them? Perhaps he made a mistake? Either way, means more target practice for our troops!

Having the weight of the deaths of thousands of innocent babies on your shoulders is something every young man should experience. Makes em tough! Definitely won't mess up their mental health or cause PTSD. Definitely won't cause any guilty feelings or trigger suicide attempts when they get home. Killing babies = happy soldiers. Everyone wins!
