Major crime decreases in Hopewell

Despite a rash of shootings in the final months of 2012, major crime in Hopewell is down by 13 percent from 2011, according to numbers from the Hopewell Police Department.

That just means the PD fudged the stats. Major crimes were either reported as lesser crimes or not reported at all.

When the PD wants more funds or new cars, watch these stats go up.

You are exactly correct in your statement. The Police Chief has these stats adjusted for his benefit. Any individual who understands statistics knows this but the Police Chief thinks that most citizens of Hopewell are idiots!

It's interesting that the comments are from people that don't even live in the State. Things have gotten better since the Chief arrived. Crime is still a problem but it is better. By the way, crime stats are maintained by the FBI, you just can't "adjust" them.

Hey, Hopewell native, these pukes live in Hopewell, and are out to ruin the city(like the "gang of 4"on city council, and the GOBs. The chief is doing a great job, his men could do better, but when they go to court and the corrupt judges slap the criminals hands and turn them loose, who can blame them for turning a blind eye. It is the pukes of Hopewell who own rental property they rent to trash that are killing the city( many judges, and lawyers). All they care about is money and power, what a "f"ing joke they are.

Hopewell has also stopped releasing the Nixle Alerts weekly like they were doing...www nixle com and you can get arrest reports, incident reports emailed weekly...very very interesting stuff...lol...Prince George sends there's out each week!

Amen brother! This couldn't be a more true statement. The members of city council are running this city into the ground. I can go on and on about your "gang of 4", but this post is about the crime so I won't digress any further. I am proud to be from Hopewell, but my children WILL NOT grow up in this. I have steadily watched this city turn into cesspool of crime and malfeasance. Mark my words: In 5-10 years will become the mess that is now Petersburg.

Nixle def isnt sending weekly went quite while with nothing you can actually log into the site and it will tell you when they sent notifactions

Just because you see an out of state location reported for the individual making the comment does not mean they live out of state. It is just the location that their ISP is giving this website at the time of the post.

makes wonder know someone commited several crimes one being felony they confessed to it and there is no record of them being charged. Ive also seen people on nixle arrest records when look up case information there is none to be found. makes wonder if are picking and choosing whom gets charged and who doesnt. 1 of em white folk so that one make sence but other dont

That sounds like a lawyer and judge get together to me. Remember, the cops don't have the final say when they catch a bad guy.
