A revoked license? I know someone with a revoked license does that make them a harden criminal? I SIMPLY wouldn't dare disrespect anyone that was deceased especially if I didn't personally know them, everyone is entitled to say what you want. But I think it simply boils down to the fact that coming on here, and running your mouth about someone who was deceased is ignorant. RIP LJ.

FYI...... Straight off of a lawyer website...
Slander is the oral communication of false statements that are harmful to a person's reputation. If the statements are proven to be true, it is a complete defense to a charge of slander. Oral opinions that don't contain statements of fact don't constitute slander. Slander is an act of communication that causes someone to be shamed, ridiculed, held in contempt, lowered in the estimation of the community, or to lose employment status or earnings or otherwise suffer a damaged reputation. Slander is a subcategory of defamation.
The basic elements of a claim of slander include;
1.a defamatory statement;
2.published to third parties; and
3.which the speaker or publisher knew or should have known was false.
Slander is primarily covered under state law, but is subject to First Amendment guarantees of free speech. The scope of constitutional protection extends to statements of opinion on matters of public concern that do not contain or imply a provable factual assertion. If the slander unjustly accused you of a crime or reflected on your profession, the court or jury can assess the damages. For other types of slander you generally must prove some actual damage to be able to recover.
Slander of title is a common law tort involving a disparaging remark regarding ownership of property. It affects the owner's ability to transfer the property, resulting in a monetary loss.
Not Slander,

You have just wasted a bunch of keystrokes. There are folks on this thread who loosely use this term and other terms they don't understand.

They don't know the difference in the meanings for Truth, Half-Truth, Myth, and/or Lie and use a combination thereof in their posts riddled with profanity.

These are not the kind of folks I would want bearing witness for me after my demise.

This is a stated opinion, not slander. An old joke, some of us are born bastards, others of us have to work hard to earn the name.

I am glad we are in America where anyone who commits a crime should drop dead. Lets say these convictions are true...which he never did any time for. You are trying to convice me that a crime against property should equal the death penalty. Please dont speed, not pay taxes, or damage anyones property because--death, excuse me murder is the solution. Im glad its guys like myself climbing the political ladder and not yall (Racist and biggots) Because you have made several generalizations about young black men on this site that are not only untrue but they make yourself look socially uneducated!

And excuse me to use the word slander. You may have a point. I am a Criminal Justice major with a 4.0 GPA and i will be a US Marshall one day... and i should know better. By all of you scholars on this webpage referring a murder of 21 year old man that Greensboro Police has given little information on, felony convictions that were eventually thrown-out, and most talked about his character that is NOT SLANDER. It is IGNORANT, MISINFORMED, SUPERFLUOUS and at the least VEXATIOUS.(Sidebar just going to websites as your only source of information almost proves what im talking about)(I interviewed the family, people in the neighborhood who where home during the murder, talked to GPD, visitied the crime scene while it was being cleaned up, and attended the funeral services. Yes this does make me an expert in not only the death, but the LIFE of Rance Slaughter. Thank you for your OPINIONS, it has been informative (sarcasm) and entertaining to hear a bunch of scholars (more sarcasm) try to disect a case with minimun information.

Common Sense,

Agree, for that reason I have a concealed carry permit and will given the chance defend myself and my love ones against thugs who want to rob or threaten us. I don't care what color, creed or national origin, a thug is a thug makes no difference.

Still think that there is more to this story than has been told so far.

My condolences to this man n his family....

I can't believe ppl are so cruel these days knowing the end is here! The ones who are making negative comments I will pray that God have mercy on your souls!!!!!!

While you are judging this man do u think God is saying to u " job well done"? NEWS FLASH HE'S NOT!!!! Did u not know God looks at all sins the same? So how are u going to top sinful acts with ur sins of judgement n think ur doing good deeds or good works?

I apologize to the fam for my post because I did not know this young man but I do realize the value of everyone's life and reading these post got me so upset. I just can't believe the disrespect n disregard for his life that complete strangers are showing when this is only suppose to be for family n friends that knew n loved him. If u dnt have something nice to say dnt say anything at all!

@Common sense...really? Is that what u r displaying? Wow! If this is common sense I hate to see an idiot!

God cares after all he made each and everyone of us. Be careful what u wish on others God has a way of making ppl eat there own words. I'm just saying u r very disrespectful to this family n ur life is no better than any one else in Our makers eyes and HE is the only one that can judge us. Gods opinion will be the only one that matters in the end... Now what will God say about ur short comings n wrong doings????we all have to answer to him! Let he without sin caste the first stone!!!!!
