What is H.264? And Why convert DVD to H.264?
H.264 is a high performance video codec technology. The greatest advantages of H.264 is it has a very high data compression ratio, under the same image quality, the H.264ís data compression ratio is double the MPEG-2ís, 1.5 to 2.0 times the MPEG-4ís. For example, if the original video file's size is 88GB, the size will be 3.5GB using MPEG-2 to compress it. The compression ratio is 25 : 1. But if you use the H.264 compression standard to compress the video file, the result is 879MB. H.264's compression ratio reaches whopping 102 : 1. Notably, besides a high compression ratio, H.264 also has a high-quality smooth image.
