From where I see it, It was one of the more respectful interviews that one of us has ever had. Piers Morgan is probably one of the more sensitive journalists around. What is Ms Mock's problem?

Terry I think Janet's problem and the problem with these trans interviews is the interviewers always want to talk about genitalia and the fact that the person has changed genders, they have little interest in hearing about the journey and the hardships trans people live with everyday. They don't want to talk about the lack of healthcare or that insurance companies refuse to cover trans procedures or that employers won't hire people simple for being trans despite them being the most qualified.

I also think the long battle over transsexuals being crammed under the transgender umbrella continues to rage on only serves to cause mass confusion not only among the community but also to those outside the community who are trying to understand or learn the terminology.

Im a fan of the TG community. I would like to think that I am respectful of their needs. But, do you really believe that insurance comanies should pay for SRS?

An unqualified YES! You think that SRS is fun and games. It isn't! As one person once said, "This is not like cutting out cigarettes, this is deep!" SRS is corrective surgery! Nothing more.
Much like a surgical procedure that would allow a crippled person to walk again. It is a legitimate medical problem that needs a legitimate medical solution. That's what medical Ins is for.

Brandi, I think you're getting too hung up on the word "Transgender". It's a pseudo medical term, that is Latin in it's origins. Trans, to cross, Gender, sex. It was coined by Virginia Prince and has been taken to mean all "Cross sex" people. From a once a week, Panty fetishist to a fully Transitioned Transexual. I'm sure you would argue that you were never a "male" brained person and SRS really means "Sex Reaffirming Surgery" (And I would agree) But I think that most Cisgendered people see (Transexuals) us as the most extreme form of "Transgender", but still transgender. Call me crazy, but I don't see anything offensive about it. I much prefer it to "Drag Queen, Tranny, and Crossdresser or Transvestite".

I never thought about it from that perspective. Thanks for the insight. Really.... I'm not sure if I agree yet, but you have peaked my interest in the subject.
