They should have....What was the rationale behind it in the first place?

Surely, it wouldn't take ten days for a background check on would be buyers,

It sounds like California is having an encounter with common sense. NAAAAHHHHH that could never happen while it is full of liberals. It must have been a conservative judge who did that.

Well I thinks it's a great idea. It gives them a chance to do a full back round check, criminal, mental or whatever. It will give people who buys guns in rash decisions a chance to stop, think and cool off. Maybe someone was thinking of murder or suicide, that 10 day waiting period could save someone's life. Granted you can buy guns off the street, but some don't know how or where. If you are buying a gun for personal reason such as target shooting, hunting, protection then that 10 day wait is not a big deal. The only ones that have a issue are the ones who have intentions. But this is only my option.

What if you had to wait 10 to speak your mind? Maybe in that 10 days you would change your opinion.

Wow, I did say this is my opinion, it's not yours. And in 10 days no my thoughts would be the same about this.

In 10 days you might be dead and not need it any more.

The whole thing is nonsense. If I decided to go out and buy a gun today, I should get it today. The suppositions that people buy guns for ill intent thereby infringing on everyone's rights are totally UN-American.

It is really none of your business what people buy a gun for. The government needs to enforce all of the gun laws that are already on the books and leave citizens alone.

I agree with you 100%.... Any normal law abiding person who wants to purchase a gun, SURELY, thinks about it awhile before buying, so what's a few days, hell I say a month to get a thorough background check...if you are a sane , law abiding citizen, why should you care, if it helps with protection of the innocent! Give me an answer...we have lots of guns and have given them as gifts to son and we always think long and hard first! My husband has a concealed weapon and had to take a course and test to get..he obeys all the rules, so guns are nice for protection, but only with education and safety rules..this is not the cowboy days, it is a suppose to be a civilized nation!

In what strange warped world does it make sense that a person should have to wait to purchase a gun? Where in the Second Amendment does it even say that we need to have a background check?

This is what I thought exactly. Besides if a criminal is hell bent on obtaining a gun for whatever reason they are not concerned with a waiting period.

How do you think gun owners feel about having to wait? You post your opinion and not expect to get back lash?
I would say alot more but wouldnt' want to hurt your feelings.

Every gun I have purchased I have had a back ground check.
If a person is set on homicide, suicide they can easily use a knive/hammer/sword,car,truck,r ock, a good push off a cliff, rope, garden hose, fork, razor, belt and guess what you don't have a ten day waiting period to buy these items.

The answer is IF you are what you describe... a sane, law abiding, citizen, WHY should you HAVE to wait TEN DAYS or a month on a background check?...My background check was done in one day and my permit came a day or two later.

I agree 100% concerning education and safety rules.....As for a civilized nation, I think the jury may still be out on that one:)

P.S. Most veterans don't have to take the classes.:)

Where I live the background check to buy a gun takes 5 minutes and it's done with the FBI's database, and it checks for a criminal or mental illness record. Anything else is no body's business. What more would you find in 10 days?

I disagree, after 10 days, you will cool off and change your mind.
