In this June 23, 2013 photo, men and women wander through the streets in the Fire Island community of Cherry Grove, N.Y. Virtually obliterated in a 1938 hurricane, the community now has about 250 houses that can sell for $400,000 or more, and two miles of white, sandy beaches facing the Atlantic accessible via a network of narrow boardwalks.
