You're witnessing the domino effect caused by intellectual thought of just why we have any barriers to same sexed marriage. If someone were to have told me 7 years ago I'd be for same sex marriage I'd have laughed at them but even characters like me think from time to time and in doing so recognize logic.
I gotta get one of those blue and yellow 'equality' bumper stickers. It doesn't make me a political activist but at least the fool behind me in traffic will know my stance anymore.
I know you have had an issue with this subject, but you try to handle it as best as anyone can and I for one commend you for that.......some times when new things come up, change is hard to accept or even accomplish.........and you're right, what we are seeing is the domino effect and just like with interracial couples being able to marry and live their lives as they see/saw fit........that is what is happening now with Gay and Lesbian couples(aka Gays and Lesbians as individuals being able to make decisions for themselves) regarding their right to marry or not to marry just like their opposite-sex counterparts can and do all the time.

The world is changing and either people need to change with it or find some other place to dwell!

I've had an "I support Gay Marriage" sticker on the back window of my SUV for several years now. No ones thrown a rock through it yet. My favorite sticker is the rainbow striped Apple that I've moved from three cars now. It was Apple Computers logo for a number of years. Designed, of course, by some Gay guy with Steve Jobs approval naturally. I still have a couple of them in my "junk drawer".

Send a few bucks to the Human Rights Campaign with a note to get your new equality sticker.
You've come a long way man.

The Kentucky AG wanted a 90 day stay...claiming it would take that long for the state to be able to implement the new change.......which I think is BS and the Judge agreed.......so, he stayed his ruling for ONLY 20 days.....but by 3/20/2014.......the State will have to come into compliance with the order.
Frankly, I think the AG was hoping for the longer stay because of the other case pending regarding the right to marry!!!
I was so confused about this, and the news sources were not helping! Thank you.

What's so f-ing "radical" about being yourself nutter??
I don't hang around gays myself but I hardly see them as "radical". I watch Cooper on the news because he's a good reporter and he's gay. Doesn't even come to mind. We've got talented football players "coming out" now yet the vast majority really don't care.
It's truly a non-issue...hardly "radical" if someone is gay and yeah genius...many are U.S. citizens, many served too and all are due their voice and full set of rights. You need to relax or at least find a cause that actually needs a voice. Hating gays is a waste of time. I know personally this to be true.
Dude, when this has all been settled and marriage rights are instituted nationwide, you won't even *hear* about it anymore! No one will know. No one will even be thinking about it. It's constantly in people's faces now because you're witnessing the historical battle to secure those rights. Imagine ... and I'm agreeing with the accepting tone of your post ... a few years from now, just imagine the DEAFENING SILENCE that will accompany these issues, when it's all over, hahahaha.

You fail to fully grasp the point being made. The rule of the majority should not silence the minority. Your blood paid for nothing you were not here when this country became a free nation. You've done nothing but teach and spew hate. You are owed nothing.

Yup.

I'm glad to finally see the real Dan.

I echo what I said to BS Detector as well.

Dan, I know your positions from the last few years and we've had some real smack down nasty exchanges. I didn't even take the advice of a good friend we both have here, but I'm stubborn.

In any case I have to say I am impressed with your courage to change and express that change. Marginalised people have always relied on the rational people from both sides to create improvements to our thinking. I'm glad Dan is here.

We won't agree on certain aspects such as gay pride parades but the core thoughts are there.

I'd like to see gay couples have more PDA given the state we're in to just normalize how we live on a day to day basis. In all truth the idea of gays is really a non-issue and it gets tiring to see the amount of energy placed to either be detrimental against homosexuals or even care who is and who isn't. Christ already....might as well worry if someone like me likes women with small titties....LOL!!!

No.

But I'm getting the sticker. Found a place that actually has it.

I feel bad for the gays who had to fight for something that should have been theirs to begin with. Just the idea of being able to kiss your sweetie while walking down the lane hand in hand kind of thing. I too was guilty of making their experiences a nightmare...I'm just hoping other rednecks like me will understand it's not an issue should someone have attractions of the same sex.;

Honestly, this is (I believe) why the pro-gay are sneering their asses off at the antigay, given the recent strings of court victories.

It's like a revenge the pro-gay and the gay themselves could never have imagined: Courts are literally *forcing* this to become law all over the country.

"I am not going to talk about religious beliefs, but about matters so obvious that it has gone out of style to mention them."

"I believe in my neighbors."

"I know their faults and I know that their virtues far outweigh their faults. Take Father Michael down our road a piece --I'm not of his creed, but I know the goodness and charity and lovingkindness that shine in his daily actions. I believe in Father Mike; if I'm in trouble, I'll go to him. My next-door neighbor is a veterinary doctor. Doc will get out of bed after a hard day to help a stray cat. No fee -- no prospect of a fee. I believe in Doc."

"I believe in my townspeople. You can knock on any door in our town say,'I'm hungry,' and you will be fed. Our town is no exception; I've found the same ready charity everywhere. For the one who says,'To heck with you -- I got mine,' there are a hundred, a thousand, who will say,'Sure, pal, sit down.'

"I know that, despite all warnings against hitchhikers, I can step to the highway, thumb for a ride and in a few minutes a car or a truck will stop and someone will say,'Climb in, Mac. How how far you going?'

"I believe in my fellow citizens. Our headlines are splashed with crime, yet for every criminal there are 10,000 honest decent kindly men. If it were not so, no child would live to grow up, business could not go on from day to day. Decency is not news; it is buried in the obituaries --but it is a force stronger than crime."

"I believe in the patient gallantry of nurses...in the tedious sacrifices of teachers. I believe in the unseen and unending fight against desperate odds that goes on quietly in almost every home in the land."

"I believe in the honest craft of workmen. Take a look around you. There never were enough bosses to check up on all that work. From Independence Hall to the Grand Coulee Dam, these things were built level and square by craftsmen who were honest in their bones."

"I believe that almost all politicians are honest. For every bribed alderman there are hundreds of politicians, low paid or not paid at all, doing their level best without thanks or glory to make our system work. If this were not true, we would never have gotten past the thirteen colonies."

"I believe in Rodger Young. You and I are free today because of endless unnamed heroes from Valley Forge to the Yalu River."

"I believe in -- I am proud to belong to -- the United States. Despite shortcomings, from lynchings to bad faith in high places, our nation has had the most decent and kindly internal practices and foreign policies to be found anywhere in history."

"And finally, I believe in my whole race. Yellow, white, black, red, brown --in the honesty, courage, intelligence, durability....and goodness.....of the overwhelming majority of my brothers and sisters everywhere on this planet. I am proud to be a human being. I believe that we have come this far by the skin of our teeth, that we always make it just by the skin of our teeth --but that we will always make it....survive....endure. I believe that this hairless embryo with the aching, oversize brain case and the opposable thumb, this animal barely up from the apes, will endure --will endure longer than his home planet, will spread out to the other planets, to the stars, and beyond, carrying with him his honesty, his insatiable curiosity, his unlimited courage --and his noble essential decency."

"This I believe with all my heart."

Congrats Dan. It is so rewarding to see someone set aside the stereotypes, start thinking for themselves and show a little old fashioned compassion for their fellow man.

Like you said, a non issue that is no more or less unusual than being....left handed. People can be different and thank goodness for that.

I don't know. I'm still a card carrying member of the Republican party. I just don't want the idea we don't accept gays into our ranks to continue. No one should give a shit about if someone was "straight" or "gay". Have a goof high school friend who turned out to be gay. At 51 and heterosexual I was actually a little jealous after seeing his boyfriend...I mean they guy is like a washboard with a million dollar smile...LOL!!!!

My impression of the Republican party is that they're perfectly welcoming to gay folks. They're happy to take our money. But they're also happy to support harming our families for political gain. They're going to have to get over that before they'll be able to say they don't hate the gays.

And congrats to you for not buying into the anti-gay bullsh*t.

In time no one will care if you're gay or not I think no different than if someone prefers brunettes to blondes. I already made a fool of myself in these threads by spitting venom against gays so I hope you can forgive me. Just stupidity on my behalf.
