It doesn't matter if all, most or only a few Same-Sex Couples will actually get married......what matters is HAVING the right to make that decision when the right person comes along!!!

Hell, not all heterosexual people marry, but at least they know they can when and if they want to.......and to me.....THAT'S WHAT THIS FIGHT IS TRULY ABOUT!!!

Then once a couple get's married......that marriage should be recognized in all 50 states, with all the same rights, benefits and privileges at both the state and federal level!!!

Section 2 of DOMA is still UNCONSTITUTIONAL because it says that a state has the right to not recognize one married couple strictly because of their gender make-up while having no issues recognizing the marriage of a heterosexual couple......and regardless of where a legally married Same-Sex Couple lives......they're marriage should still have federal recognition!!!

Just like many straight couples don't want to marry but everyone should still have the option. Gays don't have that option everywhere yet.

The "reply" function is still not working for me what wit things that Topix changed for some weird reason. but things are getting better because teh top bar is now right-side up, and before it was upside down all the time.

To:NorCal Native; I agree. And for decades at LEAST 75% of black people born are born to unmarried mothers, so clearly that part of the str8 population doesn't want marriage either.

ER,
My banner is still upside down and backwards, my reply button still does not work and why would everyone need to get married just because some do?

I want a white-on-black background option to lessen the drain on my battery.

Oh! And the three blue bars in the TOPIX banner should be two RED bars, as in "EQUALITY".

What a silly "study". Straight folks have ALWAYS had the ability to marry, and often choose not to, and they were raised with the idea that it was an option, and almost required.

No gay person has ever had that. When we married, it was without legal standing, and often against the wishes of family and society.

If people stopped marrying simply because someone, or society, expects them to, the divorce rate would plummet.

The only thing I would add is "responsibilities" to go along with the "same rights, benefits and privileges at both the state and federal level!!!" part of your post.

Just like any other "contract" it should be valid where ever you travel in the Country.

Why is this even "news" so what that some people choose to get "married" and some don't. Let the couple decide what is "right for them".

For man decades, about 3/4 blacks are born to unwed mothers, so their divorce rate must be very low.

I find articles like this completely offensive.

As most have already pointed out, just because not everyone likes something or will use it, doesn't mean we should make it illegal.

Should we apply the same principle the author here is using to voting? Home ownership? Credit cards?

This is the David Moore ssm gay panic defense and it's STUPID!

Exactly my point and I do agree with ya that one needs to take responsibility as well.......isn't of just doing what they sometimes do!!!

Hope all is well with you and yours.......by the way.....Happy 5th wedding anniversary:-)
