Being a TG is nuts to start with, the public funding the procedure is preposterous.

You're absolutely correct! I won't use your vernacular, but it is a medical problem that needs a solution just like a broken leg.The medical reasoning is sound. The question is, how do we pay for it? Many people who refuse to learn anything about it, consider it to be a mere fluff, something elective! Go to lynn Conway's excellent site ( Lynnconway.com ) and read up about it and the trouble it causes it's sufferers. Find out just how "nuts" it is.

Nothing, including the preponderance of data you always present, will convince me that this is a legitimate medical intervention.

Don't forget, doctors, both surgeons and psychiatrists, earn a living promoting this garbage. Make it a medical procedure, get paid by insurance companies. Is it necessary? No. Should it be taxpayer funded? No.

Are doctors always ethical? No. Do they always do what is in their patient's best interest? No. Are doctors willing to accept truckloads of insurance payments? Absolutely.

I am not so much concerned with the question of whether it is a legitimate medical condition or not, If I were effected, obviously it is the most important medical issue I would want covered.
My biggest complaint I have is how the payment is "self-insured"
This means the taxpayers are directly on the hook for everything, with the interest to boot.
There are several controversial things that are funded by the taxpayers, and as far as I am concerned ... they should ALL be stopped.
If the city made multiple health care insurers available to their workers, then these providers can pick and choose what is legitimate.
And if you don't like the coverage … then change providers.
It is this competition that causes companies to compete for your business.
The other supporters that are posting on here (obviously not you, you are one of the same ones) are using the argument that if I don't support it, I am a bigot.
That method of arguing shuts down the conversation, and does not provide solutions that would be advantageous to both parties.

<quoted text>First The MAN this is an expansion of the cities Insurance plan so it's NOT costing the city a penny extra so you and the other cavemen on here argument of how much it will cost the taxpayer are void and not actuate.

Second of the employees that work for the city how many would even need this coverage how many diagnosis transsexuals do you think work for the city ? I'd guess maybe one or two so tell me how does it hurt you or the city to add a rider to their policy that doesn't cost you or the city one extra penny, but yet makes it possible for someone who has a diagnosed medical condition for which the diagnosis treatment is sex change surgery. Just because you don't agree or believe in this condition is irrelevant you should think about the needs of someone else besides yourself. For the diagnosis transsexual who work for the city this is life changing necessary surgery that will allow them to be much more comfortable in the own skin and in turn do a better job at work and for you john Q taxpayer.... QED it's NOT all about you for your 411
Well put have u has the surgery?

How many times can I switch back and forth for free? I might want to be a man this year, a woman the next and back again.

I get depressed without pot, will the city cover the cost of my medical weed? I also turn to cocaine and alcohol without sex, will the city pay for my hookers? Actually, I will probably still do the 8 ball, with or without the hooker.

It's only funny because you and I see it for what it really is, A tempest in a teacup. These are Second or third "Wave" feminists (Who counts?) They are on a mission! They know their rights! Who besides them, cares? Any TS who allows her self to get sucked under into this blazing pit of feminist manure has too much time on her hands. Womyn? I don't get it! We have a perfectly good word for members of the female gender, Woman! Oh now I get it. Woman contains the word "Man" wo-man! And these girls don't want nothing to do with the male gender, no how, no way! Past or present! Well we see where they're coming from don't we? Ok..... Let them have their little music festival for only womyn born womyn. Who needs it? If it weren't for the articles, no one would even hear of it. We can enter the larger world.

Well, One professional grievance group! The Womyn(s)! Transexuals are not a "grievance group". Our grievances our real. Each November there are Memorial Services for those of who died, due to abuse and just plain, unabashed hatred. The TDOR (Transgendered Day of Rememberance) services are world wide in their scope. They take in murders and torture of Transwomen in places such as Brasil, Russia, or Africa. Our grievances are real!

Will the city cover penis enlargements and breast enlargements? Will the city cover my medical marijuana prescription? I should get a city job and live large on the backs of taxpayers and the working man.

LOL, Yeah right.
The transgender group that held clear channel hostage over their Kim & Beck flap demanded that they fund the "transgender re-education classes." That makes them a paid entity!
That is the SAME hustle that Jesse Jackson Jr does with his race baiting.

That's exactly how the Militant Feminist feel!
You demand tolerance, but you don't give any!!!
You meet hate with a higher level of hate.
Now that your group is facing another group just like your own, I hope you both consume each other!
Any ill will you have felt as a transgender will multiply when you give people a reason to hate you!
People who are otherwise neutral on this issue are growing tired of having small greivance groups FORCING their agenda on them.

Great ... so WHY isn't your grievance group as active in Brazil, Russia or Africa to correct these wrongs as they are in America?
I'll tell you why, because you have no power or authority there ... so you punish the American people who probably treat you better than anywhere else in the world!
Don’t you see the intolerance you are creating with your activism?

When you're faced with hate, you have to do something! Hard headed people see us as immoral. The medical profession sees us a medical/physiological anomaly. All we want to do is live our lives. However, these same hard headed people say "No, Don't give them a job!" "Don't allow them changes of licenses and other ID"," Don't allow them to eat in my resteurant!" Don't allow them to use the appropriate public restrooms!" Stand in their way at every chance! Frustrate them every way! Don't allow them to progress in their lives in any way. Make them sorry that they ever considered "becoming" Transgender. You know you or someone you know does it. "It's just wrong!" But while right or wrong, We're stuck with it!
As Jesus said in Matthew 19:12 It is not given to everyone". Or in Mark 9:47 "If thy right arm offendeth thee, cut it off!" And that is why a group of individuals band together, for us, it's survival.

Under our "Collectivized" medical system, we pay for everything else, so why not! It's alot cheaper and less prevalent than a heart attack, cancer, or the tuberculosus being brought here by illegals.

weak arguement there ...
the american public doesn't want these illegals, but the government has sold the people out by allowing them in.

Do you really wanna put the transgender community in the same light as the illegal aliens?
