You don't always, but sometimes people can tell
or at least suspect/not be sure.
To give an example, I often get a takeaway coffee from this place in town, the girl behind the counter tends to call people sir, madam, miss. One week I was wearing a blue scarf and she called me sir. The next week, same clothes except I was wearing a pinkish scarf and she called me miss.

I think it's appalling to exclude ANY minority group, that is liable to be discriminated against, in protection. How is that looking out for everyone
