Yeah, that's not likely to happen anytime soon. At least not as long as the APA still classifies it as a disorder.

The U.S. Army's motto is "Be All You Can Be". But they first need a guarantee that you are who you say you are.

Cleft palates aren't normal either and have to be fixed, but once fixed they don't bar anyone from military service.

A cleft palate isn't connected to your brain. Through no fault of their own, trangendered people are deeply conflicted. Try to think of the military as being more like your fitness trainer, and not like a service animal.

It most definitely is a mental disorder. Them freaks don't know what direction they're going, let alone what gender they are. Lock em up & put them is a mental institution, that's where they belong.

I am literally 4 weeks away from graduating Nursing school. I am transgender. By your comment I should not be able to do this. Not as in shouldn't be allowed to but should not be mentally capable of this.

Tell me how is this happening.

Being GLBT is NOT a "mental disorder". However, being homophobic IS, and there is help available from your local county mental health society. Have mommy call them and and make an appointment for you. They have playrooms for you.

The word "Homophobic", as used by the gays, is used to pigeonhole anyone who disagrees with them.

It sho nuff is pattycake! Just because a bunch of drug addled administraters out of the hippy movement said so, only then to take us off the gold standard, doesn't mean they don't have a disorder. Cus they do. Nearly all hetero couples that abolished their ability to be parents don't spend their days wishing to or manipulating our govt to be around children.

Do you even have any idea what gender you are ?? Not. Too stupid to realize what's real and what's not. Mental disorders are not exclusive to only totally stupid people. Some of the smartest people in history were serial killers. Didn't mean they weren't smart enough to make it though some kind of career.
I realize that my sex is male. My gender is female. Will I ever be a woman. No. Would I prefer to be something in the middle to male. Yes.

Trust me I realize alot more about transsexualism than you are even beginning to realize. Unlike you I have actually studied it. I have read the scientific peer review studies. I have empiric evidence of my life and suicide prevention.

I am who I am. I am what my genetics *dont give me the XX XY BS because I can so rip that apart*, My environment, and My experience have made me. And I am happy as who I am.

Glad to hear you are happy with your life. I just don't see you joining the military. Glad to read you have done research on this subject instead of 'blaming' something for your life. That is mostly what I hear. I am not sure what your environment has to do with your lifestyle. Many doctors call this lifestyle a 'disorder' and although I do not understand it, I know it is real to some people. I have known a few transsexuals and a even military veteran who received the operation after he came out of the military. Unfortunately she died but her paperwork described all the legal bull she had to go through. Her request for her remains was to have her body donated to science and this was done with the utmost respect. I know, because I handled this case at a VA hospital.
Too often I have heard many excuses of why this lifestyle needs 'adjustment'. I know there is much mental counseling that is involved before making any decisions. I will state that I do not understand this but the end results is to make the person 'whole' as they believe. I can support that idea but I think there are limits and the military is not the place to discover your identity. I know a few soldiers who have chosen their lifestyle after completing military service and that is a challenge in itself.
Just wish I didn't have to hear all the excuses about 'why I was born this way'...
I do know the psychological counseling that is involved and the years of treatment is not something that ANYONE would go through just because they don't understand why they were born this way. I have read many a board posting (transgender, gay, lesbian and straight) to learn to understand this lifestyle choice. At least it educated me but don't ask for my personal opinion. I have read about too many people going through this transaction who become suicidal during this transformation and I will say..NO ONE DESERVES TO PUT THEMSELVES THROUGH THIS UNLESS THEY FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IS INVOLVED and make the proper educated decision that will affect them for the rest of their lives. That in itself is an education and that is what people need to be educated about. Good luck in all that you do.

Fascism and homosexuality go hand in hand. Ernst Rohm, a homosexual and founding father of the Nazi Party aided Hitler in the movement until Hitler felt Rohm was a threat to his own power.

This isn't about marriage or parenting at all. It's about control and power.

First I am a veteran. One reason I'm in nursing school is the benefits I have received for my time served.

Next I agree with you. Transsexuals should educate themselves for part to defend ourselves, and for part to understand ourselves. You actually stated why therapy is important yourself. Many of us become suicidal before and during the transitional phase. This is because we are experiencing new or stronger emotions, changes to our body, as well in many cases the loss of our friends and family. The changes in emotions make alot of this very difficult to deal with. This is why therapy is important for us. It also provides a safety net because there are some conditions that present as transexuality but are not. It allows us a way to try other therapies until we are ready to accept ourselves or we find the other cause.

As for my mention of environment. It was related more to the genetic statement. From my research I believe this to be partially a Genetic condition. There have been links to the formation of the brain as well as androgen receptors in some transsexuals. Many genetic conditions are actually triggered by environmental factors ranging from chemicals, foods, or insults from daily exposure in our bodies. This can be the missing link in homosexuality/ transsexualism people don't consider the environmental factor. However there is much more research to prove or disprove my theory on this and I am not in the place to research it.

I appreciate your civility in your response to me. Thank you for your time.

If you're happy and content with who & what you are, then more power to you. Each individual is different whoever or whatever they are, even with normal people. A lot of Trans. that I've run into cause me to not give the rest the benifit of the doubt, which I know isn't fair, but it's hard to block some things out of your head. I don't agree with that kind of lifestyle but I don't have to live it. Good Luck, and I don't say that very often.
We often forget that we are not the category we are placed in. I have the same issue in sometimes i forget to give Christians or those who are religious the chance to prove themselves. This was more true when I was late teens early 20's

One thing I have learned in my time is that if you push people out of your life because of their beliefs, or their "Category" you loose out on some wonderful friends.
