Why this is news is beyond me. It's meh, we already know that the Repugs hate anything that is not a straight, pale, christian, fat man. DNC doing this is relatively expected.

Kitten, That's just not true! I've known a few gay Republicans, Hazel Gluck and Judy Shaw (Google) are two high ranking Republican women who are lovers and attend all big events as a couple. Christie Whitman was probably gay or Bi. I knew her and that is my observation. And she was surrounded by lesbians, who she chose. Christie also sat on the board of the Log cabin Republicans. Donna Milo in Miami, a Transexual woman, ran for Congress in 2010.
On the local levels, there have been a few gay or trans running in my former county. What you say is just off the wall prejudice and in no way reflects the truth. But then I was involved for many years.
Regards, Terri

I really hope that you are not representative (and I'm afraid you are)of much of the Demo. electorate.(Those who voted for hope and change) You're using democratic screeds from partisan Democrats to make points about republicans. I'm insulted that you think I'm stupid enough to give them any credence. You can't or don't think critically! You just suck up the democratic propaganda as fact.
Next, this might surprise you, but I don't give a damn about gay marriage! I really couldn't care less. Which is what gays thought of Transgender rights a few years ago. I'll be damned if I would shut my eyes to everything Obama's done and pull the lever for him over a little issue like Gay marriage! BTW, How do you like the gas prices? And they'll go a lot higher if he gets his reelected. And the Natl Debt? I know, I know, they tell you the natl. debt doesn't mean anything, Inflation doesn't mean anything either, in fact nothing means anything! Go tell that to the Greeks! Go tell a German how inflation doesn't mean anything! Or an Argentinian! Gay Rights? ROFLMAO!

Lumping all gay folks together, are you?

Logical.

And you believe that the President has control of gas prices? Is to blame for the Greek crises, and is the cause of inflation?

Suuuuuure.

I seem to remember Dear Pres Bush on the TV telling us that everything was juuuuust fine, as the whole country was sliding toward the recession. The last thing he really did in office was create one of the largest "stimulous" packages ever initiated for banks.

Obama is in NO WAY perfect. But if someone like Ryan had been at the helm and given free rein, there would have been more suffering than you can imagine. Obama at least held the line to a tolerable level for most Americans.

Do you think raising the taxes on the middle class and lowering it for the wealthy will really fix the issues we face today? Do you think that privatizing Social Security will really be the answer?

Just ask anyone with a 401k instead of a pension.

It's very easy to place blame, but it's a lot harder to look at what they are offering as solutions and try to determine which vision will be good for the majority of Americans.

Lilith, I've been following You for some time. Youi may be contentious, but you definately have some abilities. What the hell do you need these "Rights" for? And I find this to be true of every "Trans" person! I know it's your child, not you, but it seems like a waste of time chasing a democratic carrot, which is too useful to them to actually "kill" as an issue by passing it. Especially when there are much bigger fish to fry, such as inflation, gas prices, repealing "junk" laws. You are the person who will stand up like a nail that has'nt been hammered down. And like that nail, under Obama's socialism, you will be "Hammered" too. I should mention that I was very involved in NJ politics as a Republican for many years. I know exactly what the Republicans and Democrats will do for me or to me.

You talk just like a politician, a lot of words without really saying anything. No government system is perfect, and no US party is perfect, not by a long shot. Many socialist policies are needed, police, fire, etc. But the only way to know if something will work in a country is to try it, unless it tramples on the rights of the individuals. Obama's health insurance bill is a non-issue, because the only parts remaining in it are what the liberal Repugs wanted in the first place, what is left in the bill is almost identical to what Repug politicians are passing in other states. What makes it a non-issue though is that it does not address the actual problems in the health care system, all it does is reduce the costs tax payers pay for emergency preventable care, which is a large amount but does not benefit preventable care not recognized by religious nuts and bigots. Trans care is severely lacking because of the religious nuts and bigots, this all ties into gay rights as a whole. Until gay rights are equal and they are all treated the same as us, they will continue to cost us a fortune in medical care, civil actions, and hindrances in justice matters, because the bigots will continue to harm them in ways that cost us all a lot of money.

This makes equal rights a primary concern for conservatives, like me, who want to see actual recovery and not more band aids. Until we can see a better party rise up, one that has a more balanced and realistic understanding of how the country works, Democrats are the best option. Republicans want just as much regulation and federal control over people's lives, they just want different kinds of it. So based solely on a cost analysis of the situation, Democrats will cause the least amount of harm, even that right leaning Obama will be better than Romney at this critical point in the US.

We have fallen behind many other countries already, mostly because we are too slow in progressing civil rights and liberties, that is our weak point and has been for too long, and now it's showing in all areas of our country. Time to move forward and stop resisting progress.

But that is not the Republican platform. The Republican platform is for more regulation on people's private lives. Excessive regulation on business is bad, but regulating people's private lives is worse. If you must choose between two evils, choose the least, and the Democrats are the least this time around.
