Did you find out what their concerns about allowing that type of facility at your location and if they would allow a facility at another location? We've been rescuing animals for
20+ yrs. Mostly dogs and horses
but over the yrs I've had baby
owls,(btw it's illegal to have any
raptor in your possisotion)baby
deer, and an assortment of farm
I want to open a pitt bull rescue
and rehab facility. A place to nurse
these animals back to health and adopt
them to a forever family.
The county does not want to sanction
a facility for that breed.
I think they are short sighted b/c they
agree about the need for such a facility.
The neighbors, who don't even live w/i
a mile of me, don't want it here either.
Finding out what specifically they are concerned about and address those concerns may help you get closer to a compromise with them.
It took 5 years to start a "no kill animal shelter" in the county I live in. Over that time I and the other board members were ready to throw in the towel. That was without having the stigma attached to it.
Pitt Bulls tend to be a misunderstood breed.
