The Catholic Response to "Are You Saved?"
The Catholic Christian answers this question in three stages or levels corresponding to the three meanings the words "saved" and "salvation" have in the Bible.(These meanings are found in the previous section, "Salvation: A Biblical Portrait." )

Catholic Christians can respond that they have been saved. This acknowledges the first meaning of "saved" and "salvation" in scripture--Jesus Christ, Savior, by whose act of salvation we are objectively saved--He died, rose from the dead, saved them from sin.

2 Cor 5:17
So whoever is in Christ is a new creation
Catholic Christians can also respond that they are being saved. This acknowledges the second meaning "saved" and "salvation" have in scripture--the present experience, God's power delivering constantly from the bondage of sin.

1 Cor 15:2
Through it (the gospel) you are also being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
Catholic Christians also respond that they will be saved, that they have hope and confidence that God will give them the grace of perseverance; that they will respond to it; and accept his gift of salvation until their death. This acknowledges the third meaning the words "saved" and "salvation" have in scripture--the future deliverance of believers at the Second Coming of Christ.

Rom 5:9
How much more then, since we are now justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath.

The dangers of fire:

Never store large quantities of flammables.

Smoke and toxic gases produced by fires can be as deadly as heat and flames. Actually, the majority of people die or get injured in fires because of exposure to hazardous smoke and toxic gases released during a fire and not actual burns. In addition, smoke often obscures vision and thereby decreases the ability of fire victims to escape. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the major cause of death following smoke inhalation.
What is fire?
Fires start in three main ways:

Accidents (e.g. misuse of appliances, dropping a cigarette or match on a sofa or mattress, etc.)
Deliberate ignition
Equipment failure including electrical malfunctions and overheating
Fire is the result of a chemical reaction between oxygen and some sort of fuel (for example a TV or sofa). When a heat source, such as a candle or a cigarette, heats the fuel to its ignition temperature, a combustion reaction is triggered, resulting in a fire.

How to eliminate fire damages?
In order to effectively eliminate fires and their detrimental effects, it is crucial to improve prevention of fires as well as protection from spreading fires. An important element to prevent a fire from rapidly developing or spreading, is to delay the ignition period, allowing people more time to escape and for the fire brigade to arrive at the incident.

Flame retardants can act in three different ways to stop the burning process and create such a delay. They may work to:

Disrupt the combustion stage of a fire cycle, including avoiding or delaying “flashover,” or the burst of flames that engulfs a room and makes it much more difficult to escape.
Limit the process of decomposition by physically insulating the available fuel sources from the material source with a fire-resisting “char” layer.

Dilute the flammable gases and oxygen concentrations in the flame formation zone by emitting water, nitrogen or other inert gases.

Slow-Cooked Blueberry French Toast

12 ServingsPrep: 30 min.+ chilling Cook: 3 hours

Ingredients
8 eggs
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/3 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup 2% milk
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 loaf (1 pound) French bread, cubed
1-1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
12 ounces cream cheese, cubed

BLUEBERRY SYRUP:
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup cold water
3/4 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, thawed, divided
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, yogurt, sour cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Gradually whisk in milk and maple syrup until blended.

Place half of the bread in a greased 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker; layer with half of the blueberries, cream cheese and egg mixture. Repeat layers. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until a knife inserted in French toast comes out clean.

For syrup, in a small saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; stir in water until smooth. Add 1/4 cup blueberries. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until the berries pop, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in the lemon juice, butter and remaining berries. Serve warm with French toast.

Yield: 12 servings (2 cups syrup).
