How long will a jack-o-lantern last after you carve it until it starts shrivelling up?

Until some teenagers come along and smash it in the middle of the street.

Since your thread has "Intellectual Articulates" in the title, maybe someone will be willing to take on the "name three things" challenge

I hope you had fun with some of them, I have an excessive amount of points in there. Better to spend them on a friend then to let them sit and collect dust!

I'm pleased to meet your sweetie Double Fine! It's always great to meet nice people in here.

Both. The two languages are very close.

I don't really like game threads. I prefer interesting discourse.

Hey! who gave me a peanut? a lemon might have been more appropriate lol

So...doesn't David Foster Wallace qualify for interesting discourse? Better say yes, I'm a fan and a biography has been recently released that sounds very interesting. Distressing when I heard the news of his self inflicted death.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/07/books/revie ...

My question was to name three authors influenced by his work. It's common knowledge that he's considered the voice of a generation.

The first "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers (read this one: he grew up in the same suburb of Chicago as Vince Vaughn and almost made the cast of Real World San Francisco). It's a bit of a tedious read, but I liked the way he allowed every thought, both good bad and selfish, to make it into the work.

The other two I'm unfamiliar with

Deb Olin Unferth - Revolution: The Year I Fell in Love and Went to Join the War
Charles Yu - How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe
