I have had scoliosis mostly all of my life,I developed it from a very young age.
I had Harrington rods placed in my back and when I had an auto accident somehow it had slipped and part of the rod had rubbed a hole on a nerve.
It has since been patched up as best as it can be for me.
I also suffer from arthritis and other nerve damages in my left thigh and have pain from my lower back going down my right leg.
I can' sit for very long nor can I stand for very long either and I can walk for no more than a few minutes before I start feeling pain in my back and legs.
The doctors has told me that I will have pain for the rest of my life.

My question...Is there any kind of exercise or method that I can do to help me ease the pain without making it that much more worse than it already is besides taking pain medication.
Are there anything I can do that won't stress it?

I don't want to be so dependent on narcs to ease the pain.

I've had severe scoliosis since infancy from a disease. Dr's said I'd be totally crippled at 40, and I'm not. Stretching methods are the best. I like to hang from my feet from an inversion machine. Gravity is not our friend. We need to reverse the situation, turn the tables. Like an hourglass. Even grabbing my ankles and relaxing is quite beneficial. Do NOT do sit-ups.

I agree, I won't take pain medication either. Natural joint medications are good though, that help keep joints lubricated. Heat is good to relax the muscles. If your muscles tighten up seriously I occasionally take a muscle relaxant at bedtime. It is not a narcotic.

Moving helps more than sitting. After my wreck that further created issues. I have many problems sitting long also. I have spent quite a bit of my life in physical therapy and with chiropractors which helps temporarily until it does back into 2 serious S curves.

I AM 32 YEARS OLD,I HAVE HAD SCOLIOSIS FOR ALL MY LIFE,I HAVE BEEN WORKNG JOBS THAT HAVE BEEN A STRAN ON MY BACK SINCE THE AGE OF 15,I CAME HOME FROM WORK THE OTHER DAY AND MY BACK WAS HURTING REALLY BAD LIKE ALLWAYS,SO I GET UP THE NEXT DAY AND I AM IN SO MUCH PAIN,THEN I START GETTING SHARP PAINS IN MY FEET AND HANDS AND UP MY LEGS TO THE POINT WERE I HAVE TO,TO THE ERTHE DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT I MA HAVE SOME NERVE DAMAGE I WANT TO KNOW AFTER ALL THESE YEARS,DID I GET TIS NERVE DAMAGE FROM MY SCOLIOSIS?I AM TOO YOUNG FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING TO ME I AM SO SAD I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO CAN ANYBODY PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE...THANKYOU GOD BLESS
