Yes, I've seen my grandma do the apple peeling dance too. It's an ancient Polish technique.

:p

Found out this weekend my dear old grams has stomach cancer and won't be with us much longer. I'm going to have to go see her before she passes.

I'm sorry to hear that Sublime. Do visit and often if possible. If you haven't already, make sure you get her story down. I did with mine - no regrets

and about Jamaica - Thinking back, we were there at very different times. I recall a political advisory at that time from the State department that had Jamaica on their list of places NOT to visit. So although the resort was very nice, there was a heavy police presence on the streets, very few goods available, no markets, dead animals in the wash and not a school child in sight. But while the Jamaicans tried to sell my sister wood birds, the other Jamaicans were trying to sell me ganga and Bob Marley tapes.

I will be lucky to see her one more time before she goes, because I live so far away and it's hard with my wife's work and class schedule. My mom is taking her to the doctor today, so hopefully we will know more.

I haven't been to a lot of tropical islands and I'm sure there are some that are nicer, but we were quite pleased with the resort and our little day trips. Granted we didn't see the whole island or visit Kingston. I'm sure there are some seedy areas, but, yes, times must have changed, because we didn't see any of that stuff. We traveled around quite a bit too and spent a day in Negril.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Sublime. When you visit, bring a photo of herself as a young woman or girl. For some reason, I think that would be a comfort. Memories of good times, like that.

Good morning Junket!

Yes, thank god it's Friday!

Next friday we're going to Louisiana for a tournament and we're leaving out after a friend gets off work at 8pm for a 6 hour drive, then up at 10am for a big tournament of 128 players with pro's, it's gonna be a long weekend because I'm sure someone is going to want to hit te casino on the way back, lol.

Wish I had my wallet...(SUE)?

More of the white stuff? I forgot to get the coffee ready this morning, but never fear! It's ready now along with some bobs.

Greetings Perse, Perf, Cov and Ricky!

Cov, I'm going to need coffee and lots of it on Sunday if I get up at my usual time.

Perf, the time change throws the Junket homestead off balance for a couple of days. Pets in particular are opposed to the change.

Ricky, your plans for next weekend sound tiring, but also exhilarating. I've become accustomed to the idea that Susan will not be returning. Sure was fun while it lasted.

Perse, that youtube wants Flash. Were they muscle cars? My link to Nights didn't. It's hit or miss as to whether I can open.

Hope y'all have a fine fun day. xo

Darn! Not muscle cars. Late 50s early 60s. Commericals for classics not of the muscle era. Gentler times for sure.

More genteel times it seems. There was decorum. Class acts for the most part. In our quest to exercise our right to free speech, some have crossed the line between voicing opinion and now engage freely in hate speech. :-(

TGIF, FC!

There's always tomorrow for dreams to come true. Someone recently told me that the new Disney films inspire girls to be all they can be. Meanwhile, the latest Politix survey shows that the majority feel men are being emasculated.(Taking license with the wording - I only glanced briefly and promptly forgot because I was silently laughing.)

What's up with that??? Does that mean women are less dependent and are able to screw in a lightbulb, take out the papers/trash, mow a lawn, and even {gasp} kill a bug without fainting?

Honestly do not understand why men would feel their role in society is being diminished or worse denigrated. Another Politix poll suggested that boys and girls are now being educated differently with the focus on females. Get OUT! I just have a hard time wrapping my mind around that - truly.

Am looking forward to reading tomorrow's Politix poll. Perhaps it will center on the pay discrepancy being highly trained and well compensated professionals v minimal skilled workers and the unfairness of it all.

Mom always told me, life is not fair. She's right, it's not. Gotta work with the hand dealt.

1524 - straight? I wins! I wins!
