Good morning, Lady J and all. Well, we got another week purt near over with. March is just going right on. Got an almost perfect weekend forecast for Sat. and Sun. I'll be able to get spoiled to that real fast. Y'all have a good'n.

Secrets resort isn't near all the other resorts in Montego Bay. The water was clear and turquoise. It's the highest rated resort on the island on any of the sites I’ve looked at. The beach is excellent. In terms of the 3rd world aspect, one of the more enjoyable aspects for Bambi and me was driving around and seeing the various villages and how people live. There is poverty, yes, but they seem very happy. I often times wonder if we in America have it backwards. We have a lot of material things, but there are a lot of bad things that go with that. We work our as$es off, live under a lot of stress, and in a lot of places there is no sense of community. It’s not like that in Jamaica. The Jamaican motto is no worries, mon. Around the time school is getting out, it's very vibrant in these small communities. All the children wear uniforms to school and are well dressed and the streets are bustling. It was a neat experience. We stopped at a road side shack out in the middle of nowhere and had coconut juice and coconut that some guy opened for us with a machete and had fresh sugar cane. We thought that was neat. I do like staying at a top notch resort, but I actually like experiencing the local color too, so to speak. Safety is a concern for some, but to be honest, unless someone has a gun, "I ain't taking shyte from you him or no man", so to speak. I can deal and it is one thing I am quite talented at. Bambi knows this, which is good because she likes to feel safe, and she does when she is with me. I go wherever I please and don't worry about a thing... |

Looking at s---. Will it never end? Happy for you, Perf! My day in the sun will come... Colonel, it amazes me how creative some folks can be with a paring knife. My Babcia could peel an apple with just one dance. My mangling defies description. I did find a pie recipe that didn't involve paring and I was over the moon, delighted. |

Yes, I've seen my grandma do the apple peeling dance too. It's an ancient Polish technique.
:p Found out this weekend my dear old grams has stomach cancer and won't be with us much longer. I'm going to have to go see her before she passes. :( |

I'm sorry to hear that Sublime. Do visit and often if possible. If you haven't already, make sure you get her story down. I did with mine - no regrets and about Jamaica - Thinking back, we were there at very different times. I recall a political advisory at that time from the State department that had Jamaica on their list of places NOT to visit. So although the resort was very nice, there was a heavy police presence on the streets, very few goods available, no markets, dead animals in the wash and not a school child in sight. But while the Jamaicans tried to sell my sister wood birds, the other Jamaicans were trying to sell me ganga and Bob Marley tapes. |

I will be lucky to see her one more time before she goes, because I live so far away and it's hard with my wife's work and class schedule. My mom is taking her to the doctor today, so hopefully we will know more. I haven't been to a lot of tropical islands and I'm sure there are some that are nicer, but we were quite pleased with the resort and our little day trips. Granted we didn't see the whole island or visit Kingston. I'm sure there are some seedy areas, but, yes, times must have changed, because we didn't see any of that stuff. We traveled around quite a bit too and spent a day in Negril. |

Good morning Junket! Yes, thank god it's Friday! Next friday we're going to Louisiana for a tournament and we're leaving out after a friend gets off work at 8pm for a 6 hour drive, then up at 10am for a big tournament of 128 players with pro's, it's gonna be a long weekend because I'm sure someone is going to want to hit te casino on the way back, lol. Wish I had my wallet...(SUE)? |

Greetings Perse, Perf, Cov and Ricky!
Cov, I'm going to need coffee and lots of it on Sunday if I get up at my usual time. Perf, the time change throws the Junket homestead off balance for a couple of days. Pets in particular are opposed to the change. Ricky, your plans for next weekend sound tiring, but also exhilarating. I've become accustomed to the idea that Susan will not be returning. Sure was fun while it lasted. Perse, that youtube wants Flash. Were they muscle cars? My link to Nights didn't. It's hit or miss as to whether I can open. Hope y'all have a fine fun day. xo |
