Push for Football at ETSU

Most students go to ETSU for the low cost in tuition and fees. Their main concern is to obtain a higher education while minimizing the financial burden. Why do university officials always think that in order to be a good college you have to have football? We don't go to college for football, we go for an education. The new football program at ETSU will increase every student's fees by at least $125 per semester, and over time this fee is likely to increase further once donations have depleted. In 2007 there was a campus wide vote on whether to start the football program again, and was voted down by the vast majority of students. It seems that ETSU administration has found a way around pesky students standing in the way of a football program starting up again. They have chosen to not even listen to the voice of their students. The recent decision to start the program again on January 29, 2013 was passed by a group of less than 30 students and pushed by President Noland. More than 15,000 students attend ETSU and I am highly doubt that the majority want this.
