Hi TOP MOD. U do not need an e mail addy to use this forum correct? because currently I do not have one cos I couldn't afford it anymore. thank you.

Also, how do I find a particular topic? Unless it's in the recently updated part or is a reply to a post of mine, I don't know how to track it down again. ty

1 Howdy! No, you do not need an email address to use the site. Registering on the site, however, does require an email address.(There are several free email providers out there, btw.) Admin @ Topix |

Hi again, At the very bottom of the recently updated forums, you will see something that says "show all 360,000 forums" . If you click on that, you will find a full directory. The site is HUGE! Admin @ Topix |
|
I started a discussion, and need it removed at this point. How can I do that?

Admin, i have two questions. One is -- how do you go about changing your name different times that you post? I see some people do this. and) 2 -- it really bothers me when I see people posting their phone numbers and sometimes even addresses. It is way too dangerous out there to be doing that. Should these be flagged for review when people see this happening? Thank you.

Hi KellBell, When posts are flagged a number of times, they are placed in a queue to be reviewed for violations of Topix Terms of Service. Users can and do change the name they post under, but we can still tell who they are. ;) Admin @ Topix |
|
TOP MOD,,,,,can u answer my 2 questions above pls as I see those kind of things happening every day.

Hi Patty, First, things first... Our system has a filter that is meant to catch phone numbers when they are posted. It's not perfect, so if you see a phone number on the forums, ABSOLUTELY flag it for review. Addresses should be flagged as well. Second, as long as you are not logged in, you can change the name you are posting with by just entering a different name in the field above where you type your comments. Users also always have the option of posting anonymously. Hope that helps, Admin @ Topix |
ok ty for your reply. As far as the phone #'s, i'm not sure how your filter works but I have seen them posting phone #'s by putting spaces between each number e.g. 6 0 6 2 9 2. etc. I just get worried because i'm sure it is a lot of children doing that without realizing the trouble that can happen. but if I see it I will flag them. ty again |

Hi again MOD, sry to keep bothering u but i'm fairly new to topix. another question I have is I've seen people respond in a thread and they put more than one persons quote in the box. This seems to make it easier and saves alot of room. How do I quote more than 1 person in this box? ty again

Hi Michael, That thread will be reviewed in accordance with our Terms of Service. Thanks for the "heads up"! Admin @ Topix |
When you review the posts at this site and track where they came from, Will you keep a record of all of them and don't you need a court order to get that information. Because the person that is making that request could have some of the posts that were put on that forum and some of his were not becoming of a prosecutor. |

Hi there, At this time, Topix does not require registration and very little user information is kept. We have a very strict privacy policy. No user information is given out without an official court order. Admin @ Topix |

Hi there, The full Terms of Service can be found here: http://www.topix.net/topix/terms User locations are determined automatically through their Internet provider and while we get as close as we can, we don't always get as close as we would like. With remote proxies and the like, the information can sometimes be way off. I have also heard of some users "masking" their ip location to give an inaccurate reading. Admin @ Topix |
