Grass never grows so green as with the rain and cool nights, the harvest moon sitting so low, the Great Orion in the Southern sky truly heralds the coming of Winter, fog hugging the ground till almost noon, bright blue skies full of Hawks on the move, the smell of distant fires...
You said a mouthful there, and are't those hawks a glorious sight to see as they're hunting? They're right up there with eagles and hummingbirds when it comes to observing; at least, to me. Y'all have a good'n.

Yes it can be beautiful. I love the color of the trees. It is a good thing my garden always stays green and warm. The trees would clog up my filters!

The other day I was fly fishing and of course caught nothing. But I had been watching a Red Tailed Hawk since I arrived. Well... she caught something and brought it to a huge Sycamore branch right above me HA HA

Couldn't tell if it was fish or mammal as she tore it apart, but the best part was when she was finish she flew down into the shallows just fifty feet from me and began cleaning herself, scrubbing her face with her wings, shaking, dunking her head. It brought to mind one of those old farmers from a cartoon, vigorously scrubbing themselves, comical.

Looked like a huge Rooster only with thick, powerful hairy legs and huge talons, what an incredible sight

Fire it up babe! I got the beer! Woooo hoooo!
You look awesome too!
Hey Figgy! Thanks for the beer! I'm sorry for falling asleep after saying hello to you when you got home, but it was a hectic week for me, and I was drained.
I'm putting some Guinness in my burger recipe, so they should be nice and juicy. I'll let you mingle with our guests, and I'll get all this ready.

nice kernel ...
I was looking up something for our friend dickens ...
came across this
++++++++++

THE WIND AND THE LEAVES
by george cooper...

"Come, little leaves," said the wind one day,
"Come o'er the meadows with me and play.
Put on your dresses of red and gold,
For summer is gone and the days grow cold."

Soon as the leaves heard the wind's loud call,
Down they came fluttering, one and all;
O'er the brown fields they danced and flew,
Singing the glad little songs they knew.

Dancing and whirling, the little leaves went.
Winter had called them, and they were content.
Soon, fast asleep on their earthy beds,
The snow laid a coverlet over their heads.

++++++++++

it's that a wonderful poem about fall ....

When you're flyfishing, catching a fish is not necessary, in my opinion; it's laying out a line and making the perfect presentation.

Watching a scenario like the hawk like that is an envious experience. They are beautiful birds. Back yonder, they were very endangered. People around here were under the impression that the fed mostly on their chickens, and everyone around raised chickens. They would occasionally get one, especially a small one, but they prefer rodens and such. They have made a tremendous come-back here, I'm glad to say. Y'all have a good'n.
