When my grandfather retired I asked him what he did all day. "I get up in the morning with nothing to do and go to bed at night with about half of it done."
That's cute! I hope to attain that status some day before I'm too old and worn out to enjoy it.

<quoted text>Now you've done it. Those guys will be trying to shoot it out of the tree with their salt guns! I can hear the hunting tales now. "Yeah, Bob, one time I was out there shootin' me some mistletoe, and I got me a big ol' clump. Durn near filled my wheelbarrow." "That's pretty good, Luke. But see here this one time I snuck up on a pertickly evil clump of that ol green stuff. Blam! I let him have it with my 22. Took me and my wife and kids to haul it all home."
Chop the tree down. You'll get the mistletoe and firewood all at the same time.

Not to mention several newly homeless squirrels or chipmunks.

I know, I know

bad Mav!

*go to corner*

Can I have some freshly made buttermilk biscuits with fresh honey?

Sure thing! What would you like to have to drink? Now if you chop that tree down and get those squirrels and chipmunks, just bring them on over here and Ms. Ruby will make up a mess of squirrel stew. She's good with that kind of stuff.

<quoted text>Squirrel stew? Really? Is there such a thing?
Yes, but not for me...
Most people who eat squirrel fry it, like rabbit.

I was just reading an article about a couple of Python
hunters down in the Everglades, caught a 16' snake.
They are allowed to sale the hide and meat but be warned
it said about eating Python because for some reason it has
a high mercury content.
Just the thought of it makes me nauseous, mercury or no mercury...

See I knew you'd know how to fix it up. Must be possum stew I was thinking of.

The only way I've seen possum cooked is like a pork roast~~
The one I saw was surrounded with veggie, too.
Again, no thanks, it's a damn possum and they're garbage eaters.

Stewed with dumplings, I thought it was duck.
Never heard of possum on the half-shell but I
have heard of possum on the shovel...

<quoted text>I've eaten rattlesnakes a few times but I didn't particularly care for it. I killed one with a tire iron once and we skinned it and barbequed it, but it wasn't very appetizing even on the grill. It does NOT taste like chicken. I don't like alligator either.
But squirrels are too close to being rats for me.
Squirrels are not my favorite critters~~
The ones in our woods are vicious, conniving, and destructive.
The Everglades is one of my favorite places and the pythons are
causing some major problems on the eco-system down there.

<quoted text>If I ever get back in that part of the country I'll have to ask my brother to take me snake hunting. I think a big-caliber handgun ought to do the trick. I used to bass fish in the Everglades all the time, but there were no pythons back then. There were big-ass water moccasins though and they've got a temper.
There's not much in the wild that freaks me out, especially if
I'm aware of it.
But being in a boat or air boat and having to pass under trees
that have snakes hanging in them freaks me out.
