The recent deaths in Colorado should serve as a warning to americans that guns are not toys or pets to keep around

"why are americans obsessed with guns?"

Now was that crazy killer 1 of 7,000,000 members of the NRA.?

No.

The guns are a birth right imbeded into our constution. 2nd admendment.

I have keep a valid CCP for 30 years. I own several guns. Does that make me a killer.? NO.

Look at society now. Do you trust your local police to protect you from a home invasion when it takes on avg. 23 mins for a resopnce from them.? What about a carjacking or a mugging.? Don't you feel you have the right to protect your loved ones.? Your property you worked so hard for.?

Guns don't kill. The azzhole behind the trigger does. If I had been in that theater. I would have been shooting back. I'm a good shot. Maybe I would have got him before he killed those wonderful people may they rest in peace.

Would you hate me or someone else if we had saved those souls.?

americans are crazy. Guns kill! Yet they don't listen. Can't they just listen for once?

So do Kitchen knives. But only when put in the hands of a killer. So who is guilty.? The killer or the knife.

Gun safety is imperative in the owning of a weapon.

in some countries, guns are illegal to own unless under very specific legal registration. Banning guns is necessary to prevent thugs from acquiring them to commit crimes. You may escape a knife attack but not a hail of automatic fire.

Thats great for them. This is America. Our laws are differant. Our law states a law abidding citizan of the this country has under the 2nd admendment the right to bare arms. Automatic weapons where banned untill 2004 here. After the bann was lifted the the "Gun" crime rate has steadly dropped. Most in part the states has made it easier for us to obtain permits. The actions of 1 idiot can't be aminded by punishment of all. I feel deep for anyone who has been a victim of a gun crime. But drunk drivers kill more people here than guns. Should we ban the automoble also.?

My character is just fine. I feel inferior to no one. And as far as my "Tollie" is concerned, my wife says that is just fine also. I own several rifles and hand guns. They are also registered with the local police, sheriffs dept, and the state police. Banning guns is not the answer. Strict regulation on owning one is what's needed. It's far too easy to aquire a firearm in the US. Not just anyone should be allowed to own one. Just because a person is able to sign their name does not mean that they are fit to carry a weapon.

If I had been in that dark theater when the shooting started, I would have been shooting at muzzle flashes since I wouldn't have known which one was the threat. Maybe you could wear a beenie with a flashing light on it so that I wouldn't mistake you for the bad guy in the dark. Back away from the keyboard and think about what you said for a moment. That is the reason I say there needs to be strict control over who is allowed to own firearms. The last thing I want is someone who has watched way too many reruns of Rambo, running around armed.

can't u see guns are bad? You live in denial. How many get killed on a daily basis in america? Learn from other countries. Don't say that they are not america's concern. We all share a planet. We have an opportunity to learn from each other because playing a 'superior aloof' attitude isn't good. Remember, no man is an island.

Only the shooter had a gun. He started shooting from the front of the exit door stage right 20 mins after the movie started. Now do you watch a movie from behind the screen.? The only muzzle flashes where from his guns. BTW his ak 47 jammned. If you ever heard one of those go off you would know exactly where it came from.

No guns are not bad. Bad people with guns are bad. Does anyone you know hunt.? I do. I was raised with a gun in every corner loaded. We had to eat. A gun at that time was a tool we needed to survive. Just like the plow. I live in no denial. I live in the real world and carry a permited 38 spl on my side at all times. I respect the laws of the state I am in at the time. I respect all people and their opinions as long as they return in like. So far you have and our debate will continue. I respect your opinion though it differs from mine.

You're not getting the point I was trying to make. Doesn't matter 'who' started shooting first. If my family is in danger, every shot is a potential threat. And besides, how would I know that you weren't working with him? What do we do? Do we all get together before the show and have a game plan as to what to do if something kicks off? If I was in a situation where I was having to defend my family, I would be taking out the nearest threat. If you happen to jump up two rows behind me and start firing, I would see you as that threat. Are you understanding what I'm getting at here? Just because someone is able to obtain a weapon, it doesn't mean they should have that weapon. Make sure that the firearm owner is mentally stable 'before' they get one. Not after lives are lost. I would bet that more than half of all gun owners couldn't pass a psychological test. That has to change.

First off, i'm sorry you had to live in a house where a gun was loaded in every corner, that seems a bit extreme. I understand hunters owning guns, law abiding citizens carrying for protection, even sport shooters. But regardless, if you think its a birth right to own a gun, the fact of the matter is, this is America, and majority rules. If most Americans want stricter laws on purchasing guns, eventually it'll happen.

I don't believe in banning guns, but i believe there should be stricter laws on obtaining multiple guns, guns that are meant for more then hunting or protection. If you want to own a hand gun for protection, by all means. If you go out and stock pile a large quantity of military style assault rifles, you need to be checked out. If your purchasing hundreds upon hundreds of rounds of ammo over the internet, you need to be checked out.

And if they can't make more strict laws on owning guns, then they should atleast stiffen the penalties of anyone caught with a gun, without a permit for the gun, or if you don't have a gun registered, or if someone committed a crime with a gun in anyway, the penalty should be so severe, they'll be lucky to get out of jail alive.
