And, when all else fails, Harry & David! I love that store. We have an outlet here in town, and then there's online, as well. I sent the four butters and preserves package, and got to pick out the butters and preserves. I thought that was pretty cool.
That is cool. Another thing I like to send are the ruby red grapefruit from Pittman & Davis out of Texas. Best grapefruit I've ever had and like Harry & David, you can choose an option to have shipments spread out over several months.

Finally started holiday shopping. Yes, I'm a bit of a hypocrite - I did a Walmart. Who else carries those pull over the head bathrobes in shades of pink that my mommy so loves

afternoon Ferrerman - spending the day in bed (and not for fun). Seems I got my usual holiday flu. All is not lost though. Just finished watching "The Misfits." Every time I see that movie (and it's one of the few I've watched multiple times) I discover something new. Even if Monroe and Miller were at each other's throats, Arthur Miller's writing is stellar. btw: Eli Wallach is still alive (98 yrs) ever see him in Baby Doll?

Please Hollywood - do not feel a need to do a remake on this.

It's been ages since I've seen either! Wasn't 'The Misfits' Gable's last film? Eli Wallach! Damn.

I think it was. The film was described as starring a cast of IRL misfits. Montgomery Clift is really good in it too. Damaged people

Well, really, what part of "...shall not be infringed" is the NRA NOT getting?

The 2A is VERY clear (if you conveniently ignore that militia stuff) that the founders intended abso-effing-lutely should have guns, all the time. No restrictions about mental capacity, age, incarceration- NOTHING. Shall NOT be infringed. That means there shouldn't be any laws The founders made that pretty clear.

The NRA is a bunch of cowards. There is a HUGE market of prisoners and mental patients being completely ignored because the NRA refuses to challenge unconstitutional restrictions! And don't get me started on babies!

I picked up the article from my absolute favorite go-to librarian. The woman has access to the best articles and she's not afraid to post them. I remember reading up about the militia and it's connection to runaway slaves. Was the militia formed for that purpose?

As with the trees of the forest and the crops of the fields, the Barlows wassail with spiced cider the name of "Rose of Tralee". May the Oak King bestow upon you his blessings for a bountiful new season. We offer this pine bough wreath filled with clove spiked apples and oranges, along with flower dusted wheat in hopes of a prosperous and long life. May the Yule be a joyous one.

Christmas returns, as it always does, with its assurance that life is good.
It is the time of lift to the spirit,
When the mind feels its way into the commonplace,
And senses the wonder of simple things:
an evergreen tree, familiar carols, merry laughter.
It is the time of illumination,
when candles burn, and old dreams find their youth again.
It is the time of pause,
when forgotten joys come back to mind, and past dedications renew their claim.
It is the time of harvest for the heart,
when faith reaches out to mantle all high endeavor,
and love whispers its magic word to everything that breathes.
Christmas returns, as it always does, with its assurance that life is good.
