Interesting link, Hegel! Based on my birthdate, I'm not a willow but a vine. However, I allegedly deal well with willows.
Any willows out there? Feel free to PM me anytime.
:-)
Hi, Junket! I'm an Ivy and I think I'm OK with that! Guess I'll have to be.

Has anyone watched Homeland? We just finished the first two seasons and loved it. Hoping someone here might want to compare notes.

I see a road trip in my future.
I have a huge trumpet vine growing over the trellis area near my pond. I also. Have a clematis vine growing over the arbor that leads from my side yard to my backyard. The clematis is called sweet autumn. It blooms from late August into October in PA.
My neighbor tried to grow Wisteria as well to no avail. Maybe it's just our soil...
That is a worthwhile road trip, I think. I remember 1 short stretch of a narrow road, that for about 2 miles was canopied with the vines across the trees. There were no power lines there, so the state just let them grow. Sorta like a purple sky for a short distance. Vine covered trellises and arbors sure do set yards and such apart, don't they? I made a wrong turn once in Holland, MI and ended up on a canopied road that runs parallel with the shore line, and saw a number of the pretties trellises and arbors that you could imagine. So it ended up being a good turn, after all. It didn't add much to my travelling time, but made the time very worthwhile.

Good evening everyone~~
Just wanted to put in my two cents worth on the
Wisteria.
I'm inclined to think of them as a southern plant.
I too, love to see them in bloom.

What is it about certain flowers or plants that
triggers good memories from our younger days--
especially when it comes to our Grandmothers?

I can't look at a bed of Azalea without
my Grandmother crossing my mind.
Yup

I think those memories spring up about our grandparents because grandparents seem to have more time to teach appreciation of such than parents do. I know the wife and I have had more time to devote to such things, and I've seen the same thing occur with our kids. They seem to be able to devote more of that kind of time with their grand kids. It's not because the parents are lacking anything, it's because the are pre-occupied with raising the kids. Don't know if that makes sense to anyone, but I'm sure grateful to have some knowledge of stuff like that to share with my grand and great grand kids. Y'all have a good'n.

My kids always quote me as saying, "I'm not lost.... I've just never been here before!" There is this state park about an hour from my house. I was on the back of a motorcycle and we made a wrong turn... We ended up driving down this back road where the trees met each other. It was a canopy of green. I've never been able to find that road again.

I used to do battle with the morning glory vines that grow on my picket fence around the side yard. I've given up. Now I just keep them trained on the fence and out of my gardens.
