Hi Richard---I was wondering what happened to you.
I'm glad you're okay and I hope your wife has a speedy recovery.
My best to both of you :)
Hello Ms Mia. How's life been treating you? Hope all is well. Been keeping busy with chores that needed tending too. This partial retirement thing is kind of nice. Still have to get up early but its not like I'm not used to it.:-)

Jen says to say 'Hi' and thank you for your concern. She's feeling much better. Well enough to follow me around the house and make sure I'm doing the cleaning right. Lol. When she scolded me for not wiping down the glass on the shower yesterday morning, I knew she was going to be just fine.

Good morning Ms Hegel. Hoping you're doing well this beautiful morning.

Really?!?! More puppies? You get a kick out of torturing me don't you?:-P

That's ok. I get to see enough calves being born as it is. And once you've seen your spouse elbow deep in the back side of a cow trying to turn the calf so it will come out, you tend to look at the miracle of life a bit differently. But still, puppies are sooo cute.

Good Morning. 10 years ago today I was living in Dallas. I got up early to watch the space shuttle fly over. Unfortunately it blew up. I had been on my 3rd floor balcony watching the news coverage through the open door. I heard the explosion, I saw the trails. Some of the debris landed in a friend's mother in laws yard in Nacogdoches. Such a sad sad day.

Morning Ms Rose. Hope all is well with you today. Have you shaken off that flu completely? I know a few people that have been fighting it for around three weeks now.
It was a bit frightening at the time. Well, it was for me at least. It's not like we haven't turned one over before. But it never happened with her in it. She says to thank you for the well wishes and to say that she will be good as new shortly. The therapist says she is doing great as far as range of motion in her shoulder goes. Might not be any permanent damage other than some soreness in the winter time. Says that it was her cool demeanor at the time that kept the damage to a minimum. I've found new respect for that woman. I didn't think that could be possible.
The flu is still with me. Yesterday friends came by, one of which was a medical doctor. She had some good suggestions on how to rid this thing. It's settled in my right ear. Thanks for asking.

Keeping a cool head and knowing how to land can save your azz. I'm glad she's on the upswing. Sounds painful though. Hope they gave her some happy meds!

Good morning BRG fans~
Any big plans for Sunday?
None here....except the usual drinking and pigging out with a couple of family members.

It's a beautiful morning here....I just saw two cardinals a few minutes ago....I rarely see them. They always make me smile.

Got me thinking....I should start a thread with the title "What made you smile today".
Good idea? Yes? No?

Hey Mia

I would have no problem contributing to that thread. When I'm not being aggravated by the numbskulls I can think of plenty of things to make me smile.

About Sunday, while all are watching the game, I'll be doing something else. Nothing clears our freeways like Christmas and the Super Bowl.

Ok

Before I sign off - does anyone on this thread have experience with stringed instruments. Thought I might want to add learning a musical instrument to my "second act" I know of a community center that will give lessons too. I'd like buy the concert size. This is one I'm looking at. Don't want to pay a fortune for something I may loose interest in. Do you know about the kind of wood that effects the sound etc?

The Kamaka brand ukulele is one of the best around. They are made of Koa wood but they can be really expensive.
The older Kamaka ukuleles are collector's items.

I play guitar, and my folks had a ukulele and a dulcimer, but that's another story.
We weren't allowed to play with the uke, so I imagine it wasn't cheap. It was dark, red wood, I recall. I suggest, when learning a new instrument, start with something in the "starter" category. You need to find out if you're really going to enjoy it.
I recall learning guitar was extraordinarily difficult, and I was 12 with a lot of energy. People are usually under the impression that it's simple. A lot of practice is required.
Get your starer instrument, then move up to a better instrument if it still appeals to you. Online research is your best bet, or ask the class instructor.

Thanks - gorgeous Maverick. He looks like he's playing a ukulele from the ukulele maker you sited. Those are some really beautiful instruments, tiger wood?- but pricey. It did lead me to find this site which has been helpful. And a cautious warning about buying on - line as told by the guy on this video. Even if it's the same brand and model, they can differ if their is flaws allowed through. A qualified dealer will send them back to (guess who) China.

So does that mean that some on-line dealers are taking these instruments and reselling them at discount? I think I'm not ready to buy yet. I may stop in at "Guitar Center." There's one not to far from me.
