and the fee was for expedited review, faster review. Topix should report on the results - how many fees were paid, whether there were multiple fees paid for the same comment, what the profit was for topix, how many comments were reviewed, how many were taken off. even how many people were hired to do the extra work faster. More transparency would help.

The problem of objectionable comments has not ended. The tos - especially a and r - are too vague, and the whole thing that comes up on the screen only when one hits the terms of service line, is too long, boring, and seemingly irrelevant, especially before it gets to the important parts - fair warning for commenters about what not to do - especially in a and r. And the "be nice" is ridiculous.

and what does "torturous" mean (a)? and what does 'otherwise objectionable" mean?(also under a) and what does "adult content" mean?(b) ALL TERMS should be clearly defined, that have to do with FAIR WARNING about what not to do.

furthermore, the "inappropriate posts may be removed by the moderator' gives topix moderators too much leeway for erratic, negligent, disciminatory, or other "objectionable" use of their discretionary powers. both in the term "inappropraite" and in the term "may". That needs to be changed too. Prohibited content will be removed by the moderator. that would be better. after it is made clear what prohibited content means.

also the headline implies a possibly false accusation of extortion. I actually thought it looked like, and worked like, a sort of de facto extortion. For the person who objected, it certainly seemed like extortion. But extortion is a strong word, and to call it actual extortion might run into some legal complications, in the legal definition of the word.

false accusations are among the things which some folks find objectionable. even false assumptions based on some person's use of language are enough to infuriate some people - even if it was their inaccurate use of the language caused the false assumption. for an example - a commandment does not necessarily mean one of the Biblical Ten Commandments. and the word "belief" does not necessarily connote also the absence of a belief. just a couple of illustrations more or less out of thin air!

Thanks for these responses progressive - they were very thoughtful! And yes, the title of this thread is not the best.

I have witnessed first hand the lies and deceit from the Topix mods. The fee was just topping on the insults. So why doesn't the mod explain why the fee was removed rather than encouraging dissent, specifically against people of faith???

I already know the answer to this, the mods have made their position very clear.

Could you please share specific examples, including links?

Are you assuming this has to do with your "faith" because of the content of the post in question or was it simply that it was on a thread/forum that dealt with that topic specifically? It seems a fairly broad allegation to say they're singling people out because of their "faith".

There are a lot of "people of faith" on many different forums here. Of course their "faith" isn't always so easilty defined and may not be the same as yours...

I've always found the mods here to be very nice. They do a remarkable job considering the amount of content they have flowing through here on any given day! I applaud their efforts!

True enough. It was more like paying extra at the post office for faster shipping and no one accuses them of extortion even though often their two day packages get there no faster and not always in two days.

The only bad thing about this is it will make Ginny Hoge feel like she won a victory and be even more insufferable.

What you want me to post private emails from the Topix mods when the promised to help the editors of the Christian forum cleanup the vile language and obvious trolls. When they were given specific examples they did absolutely nothing and in fact supported the trolls. Their actions speak very clearly.

Right now there is a thread in another forum and it has a person name in the title. A clear personal attack that the mods are aware of but have not removed the thread. It does not get any more clear than that.

Topix has banned people, removed their posts and their entire threads based upon using someone's fictitious user name on the boards. The usernames were obvious trolls but Topix says rules are rules and they took action against those that spoke out against the trolls. Yet here are two threads that have an actual complete persons true name that they are aware of and they have not removed the threads. There is a third I cannot find right now.

If there is any doubt in anyone's mind of the games the mods play I dare them to address this specific point.

According to you, Virginia.

I don't know any "Kelly". I've posted to many different people here, including progressive who's from Iowa. I live in Chicago.

Why do you insist on calling people "evil" and a "troll" when you know that's not the case at all?

I find YOUR behavior suspicious precisely because of these constant attacks on people like me who simply want to understand your reasoning and ask for explanations. You ignore all requests for links, too.

The fact that you won't answer and would rather call me names speaks volumes about you as well as your motives.

Let's see if the Tpox mods do anything about Kelly impersonating a Topix mod ..........

Virginia and her friends started several threads about people I know and posted stories about all of us, but of course I don't use my real name here. Perhaps that wasn't was a wise choice on her part.

She seems to think it's funny and warranted when it's someone she doesn't like being named in a thread title or news story. Do you find that interesting?

I just ignore that stuff. Virginia has come onto this place with guns blazing, calling everyone names, threatening people with lawsuits and basically being contentious to anyone but a very small group of people. She's had an agenda from the beginning.

She refuses to be polite even when spoken to politely and insists only she knows the truth about everything. It's no wonder people have lashed out against her.

I have done nothing to her, but she's still treating me as the "evil troll". If you're really honest about all you say, perhaps you might question why she would do such a thing? It's my hope that Topix has taken note of her behavior, too.
